That's why draft picks > Josh Smith (or any tier 2 stars/player with potential). Draft picks allow you to acquire building blocks on the cheap while keeping your options open. 2 or 3 trips to the lotery, some clever moves on the FA market, some patience and then it will be time to make a big splash.
