Pierce + JO to bulls

Deng + Korver + Asik to celtics

By adding pierce the bulls really push themselves all in for a championship this year and next. They lose asik but JO can take his minutes off the bench.

The Cs get Deng for the same length of time as pierce. He is a very effective player and is around rondo's age. Asik becomes our starting center and is only 25. With boozer and Noah on the books for 2 and 3 years I dont see the bulls being able to keep him after next year.

I like it. The question is, can Asik manage starter minutes?

It hurts Chicago. Makes them worse.

I can't see them moving Deng for Pierce. Nevermind the rest of the pieces. Noah and Rose are too young. The Bulls have a long term nucleus there with the three of them. Breaking it up for aging Pierce who has maybe two good years left in him would be incredibly short-sighted.

Losing an above average backup two guard and the best backup center in the NBA on top of that ... awful trade for Chicago.

Hahahaha you expect Chicago to give us Deng for the Truth?  What universe are you in?  Deng is undoubtedly having the best year of his career so far, while Paul is having the worst.  And Asik and Korver?  For JO?  This is a joke.

This is a joke.

When the eastern conference championship is being played and Derrick Rose is trying to carry the bulls offence against wade and lebron then this trade is no longer a joke.

Pierce gives them the best chance to win a championship. Rose is the only player on there roster who can create a shot for himself. Pierce instantly takes pressure off of rose to be the man every time down the court. Things can change quick in the nba (ask brandon roy) you never know when 1 injury ends your championship chances and sends you back to the basement. If the bulls feel they want to win now then they pull of this trade.

Being the City of Chicago and having a young MVP superstar the bulls will have no problem bringing in a replacement SF after pierce retires but for the next 2 years paul gives them the best chance to win.

Deng's offense has looked pretty good this year, actually.

Plus, I think they need his defense more than they'd need Pierce's offense.

In today's nba team defense (5 guys all buying into coach thib's system) and individual offense is what wins championships. Deng is a great defender but in the playoffs the rules really don't allow you to individually shut down carmelo and lebron. The league has made this a 1 on 1 offense league with all benefit of the doubt going to the offensive player. Pierces offense hold more value in the playoffs then dengs D and pierces D isnt terrible agaist lebron and melo.

Chicago has a big window right now and Deng is essential to their team D as the guy who guards exactly the guys you mentioned - Melo, Bron, even Durant.  dont' know why you would dismiss Deng's individual D.  Pierce won't be able to guard those guys in a year or so while Deng is much younger.  No way Chicago even considers this.

I agree with the general sentiment that we will never get Deng in this trade.

However, a trade I would do would be Brewer, Korver and Asik + Charlotte's 1st rounder that Chicago has for Pierce.

Brewer and Korver to help a little now and Asik and the 1st for rebuild.

Details of the conditional 1st rounder:
# 2012 lottery-protected
# 2013 top-12 protected
# 2014 top-10 protected
# 2015 top-8 protected
# 2016 pick is unprotected

Well then, under Charlotte's mismanagement, this is destined to be an unprotected pick in 2016.  if not for the CP3 trade, we'd have had an unconditional from them in the same year.

Most likely, you're correct.

However, this piece does get more valuable each successive year. We might not be able to exercise the pick soon, but it is a pretty good trade asset that can be packaged.

I don't think the Bulls would ever trade Deng, especially for Pierce. IMO Deng is the best player on the Bulls and his perimeter defense is irreplaceable to Chicago.

deng is no where near the player pierce is/was.....
this trade messes with our cap when pierce could be retired or amnestied next season.

a few years ago I suggested a deng for pierce swap. folks on the blog laughed and said deng was a career underachiever who could never fill pierces shoes.
things change...
reminds me of all the foolish definitive statements people make about ball players.
"z. randolph is a malcontent looser"
"tyson Chandler isn't nearly the defender perk is"
"okafor is a career looser"
al jefferson can't lead a winning team"
"pitrius is washed up"
"anthony randolph is the next KG" (that one was mine)
etc etc etc
I, like everyone here, like to evaluate players potential, imagine how a players game would translate to the celtics system, etc etc.
but I'll leave the definitive's for the professionals.
