I'm not sure Danny would be so cold, but they're a team that's a potential fit in terms of direction and roster. Example: trade Pierce and Bradley there for Millsap, Banks and Miles.

The Jazz get a model NBA citizen / HOF'r to guide a young team and a gigantic upgrade at SF, while alleviating their logjam at the 4, making room for Favors and Kanter. They continue their run towards the playoffs with better potential to make some noise.

The Cs get an excellent, blue-collar PF, a young sleeper at the 2, and $6.5mil more cap space next year.

Just sayin....

If I'm an NBA player, and I get traded to Utah I would retire on the spot. That would be the one city I wouldn't want to play for.

Millsap is their best player . . . don't know why they'd trade him.  The Jazz can't be dumb enough to think they're on the verge on contending, which is the only reason that trading for Pierce would make sense for any team.

lol this is a bit of an exaggeration, but i see where he's coming from. Despite having some great players in the past... I'd HATE to play in Utah.

...and if this was to happen I'd rather get back Al Jefferson.

You'd be saving a million dollars for next year then he expires after that. That works PERFECTLY with how Free agency will be working out.

Try for somebody this year with the money from KG and Ray's expirings, then when Big Al expires go after somebody else... if nobody bites you still have Al Jefferson's bird rights.

CJ Miles is a FA this summer. Might be someone worth pursuing at that time.

I say go big time if Utah wants to compete this year.

Boston trades
Pierce
Ray (trade exception from Williams trade)

Utah trades
Favors (I know, makes this unlikely)
Miles
Bell
Hayward
and a conditional 1st.  (It turns to a 2nd if the Jazz do not get out of the first round of the playoffs)

And the problem for most teams who actually are on the verge of contending is this: if they give us the type of players we want, they likely won't be contending anymore.  If they give us the type of players they want to give us, it likely isn't worth the trade.

At the moment. or before the season is over , I don't see DA trading PP . IMO..  It would take some really huge mega deal with 3-4 teams involved that would somehow land us a MAJOR impact player ::). Very slim chance IMO.
Just can't see any deals where this has a good chance of happening this year, maybe next year.  I think some new highly touted draft ed yound blood wouldn't hurt the Celtics stock , and only help us in the search/purchase for the next "BIG THREE"  over the next two years.

I think this is a very black and white POV of this thread. Utah is precisely the type of organization that would see value in Pierce as a winner and an upgrade. Millsap may be playing their best basketball right now, but he's a (very good) role guy at a position where they're clearly dedicated to younger talent. Why not maximize his value by bringing in 2.5 years of one of the best SFs in the league?

And no, I don't have any interested in Al Jefferson whatsoever. The Jazz' only hope of winning is to have a 4 with length and defensive capability next to him: that's Favors. He needs to get front and center, and Millsap prohibits that.

Teams Al is featured on will never win anything. Too many faults to go with that drop step.

Salt Lake City seems rather nice to me, though I've never been there. It isn't like the team practices on a polygamist compound.

Utah is one of the very few places a PP trade makes sense. They've got to move one of those bigs.

It makes sense except for the fact that PP has a no-trade clause, and why in heck would he waive it to go to Utah?
