How about this deal which does work in trade checker & maybe it is doable.

Celtics receive: Andrew Bynum, Metta World & (Odom's) Trade exception

Lakers receive: Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo & Jermaine O'Neal

Why for Boston? You are always correct in starting a franchise fresh with a young dominant center. Boston is clearly rebuilding & this helps that process go smoother & faster by not having to worry about Dwight Howard in the summer. We could still go after him but the PG position would be WIDE OPEN for D-Will to play with a dominant young big man he could grow with.
And a lineup of:

PG: Deron Williams
SG: Ray Allen (smaller contract)
SF: Pietrus-M.W.P or draft pick
PF: Garnett(1yr 3mil) or hopefully strike gold with Josh Smith
C : Andrew Bynum

Why for L.A.? It would make them title contenders for sure & give Kobe a true PG he always needed & also give him another scoring threat from all over the floor he never had before & would make their offense dynamic & all allow Gasol to get his post touches again. With Bynum this year Gasol has become too outside oriented. Personally I think Pierce would play out of his mind if given this opportunity to play at home & that alone would make the trade worthwhile for L.A., Kobe wants rings & Pierce would help hime with that! And this trade opens up the center position to go after D-Howard in the summer if Howard wants to come. They could amnesty either Pierce or Gasol to free up the money for Howard & they are back up & at it.

Laker lineup after trade.

PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Pau Gasol
C : Jermaine O'Neal

That looks like a title favorite this year & its a win win for both organizations!

First, link?

Second, no, I wouldn't trade Pierce for Pau, and I doubt the Lakers would do that trade, either.

Third, the Lakers have absolutely zero assets that interest me outside of Bynum, who won't be moved for anybody short of Howard.

EDIT:  Thanks for the link.

Ehh it's ok. Not too high on an fequently injured Center and a player who is on a bad contract for our 2 best players. But a good center is much better to have than a good point guard.

If they can add anyone who can dribble on the perimeter they'd be a top flight contender again. So yeah from the Lakers POV that makes sense, I don't see any trade that would work from the C's point of view. They have no assets that they could feasibly give up for him.

Sure.  But they wouldn't make that trade.

My guess is they are interested in lowballing the C's for him

Bynum is a very good starting point to go along with 2 first & perfect model fit for Jajaun Johnson to play alongside in the future.

Just made a more sensible trade request for us to improve for the future by getting Bynum. Gasol doesn't really bode good for our future being he'll be old like Garnett by the time we are good again. Unless D-12 wanna play with Gasol which I doubt!

I'm not that into it only because it helps the Lakers, otherwise I'd probably be on board.

I'd be MOST on board with trying to do this trade and flip Bynum + picks/filler for an extended Dwight, but that's tough to pull off.

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey

I know im the minority but Bynum "IF" he stays healthy, can become a better overall player than Dwight. His offense is miles ahead & constantly improving, he is already a very good defender of the basket with his strength & size & long arms, he is a legit 7'1 with 7'8 wingspan. And he is a top notch rebounder maybe on par with Dwight already maybe just slightly behind. He is a guy to have being his ceiling is elevating.
