They will lock Harden up too for probably 12-13 mill per year.

Rondo's contract continues to look like a bargain every year...but good for Westbrook.

Luxury tax team, all things considered.

EDIT: I meant in 2013, when Harden and Ibaka come up for extensions.

They would be pushing the line for sure. These are estimates below.

Durant at 17
Russ at 16
Perk at 8
Harden at 12
Ibaka at likely 8
Collison and Sefolosha at 3 each

Then you have to fill out the roster. But they normally do that with rookie contracts and vet min guys.

Or maybe the C's can trade Rondo (and other pieces) for Westbrook in the offseason.  This is where the lack of BYC rules in the new CBA could be very beneficial, because it makes it much easier to trade for him, even though he is already extended.  If they underachieve in the playoffs this year, and Westbrook doesn't work well with Durant and company, perhaps they consider moving him in the offseason for a cheaper guy in Rondo, who might be a better fit with scorers like Durant and Harden.

If they keep Westbrook, it could really tie their hands with signing Harden, and still staying below the stricter luxury tax in a couple years, but Rondo would make it easier for them to swallow.

Ibaka is certainly valued higher than Perkins.

Is collison still under contact? I heard this morning that he was listed under worst sports contacts our something

So the Celts can build around a shoot first point guard who's a fairly inefficient volume shooter? Might as well save the $30M or so and just have Rondo shoot the ball a lot more.

You want Westbrook over Rondo at an extra $5 mil per when cap space is so crucial?

Lot of money for two superstar in that small of a market without having Harden and Ibaka signed long term or being fairly compensated.

If Westbrook is kept long term, and I think he has to be, either Ibaka or Harden will be available in a couple years. Bet on it. There's no WAY OKC can afford that much salary in that market.

I didnt think they would re sign him. Not that a feud w/ Durant was a deal breaker but watching the okc bos game I saw too many shots by westbrook that should have been durants.

Maybe they trade him now with a contract in place? IDK, I think they should look for someone else.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Yes.  I think Westbrook is worth the extra money, and I think he is as good as just about anyone we would use that cap space for (he wouldn't stop us from getting Howard, if he were so inclined to come here).

You and I just don't see eye to eye on how good Westbrook is.  I think he is a young Dwayne Wade.  I know you don't, and we will just have to agree to disagree on that.

Good signing.

Just putting this out there, but I don't know why the Thunder aren't showing any interest in Howard. Instead of resigning Harden and Ibaka to contracts upwards of 10 million each they should package them with Perk for Howard. That way they can probably avoid luxury tax don't drop in defense and gain the inside presence they need offensively.

I think Westbrook, Durant, and Howard would easily be the most terrifying core in the league.
