Regular season, Lakers.  Finals, Heat.

This shouldn't even be up for discussion.
I feel exactly the opposite.  I'm going to assume you're stating who you want to win, not lose.

I refuse to conceive of anything so horrible.  I'd pray for the Apocalypse to begin. It's gotta happen some day, I'd be here to see it, and I've always wondered what the Four Horsemen screetching across the sky would look like. I'd also get to turn to all my atheist friends and say "HA! Told you!" and turn on the TV to see what Tim Tebow has to say.

Far far far better outcome for everyone involved.

Would root for the Heat.  Not even up for discussion.  I rooted for the Pistons in 88 and 89 (I still hate Laimbeer) so this would be easy.  I don't like the Heat but they're more a symbol of what pro sports (particularly basketball) have become in the sportscenter generation.  The lakers are the lakers.  I hate everything about them.

yep.  most of the posts were about winning, so that is how I went.  I want the Lakers to win the regular season games and the Heat to win in the finals (if they meet).

The situation where I want the LA Lakers to win at anything has never arisen.

Stomp them into the ground Miami Heat.

In baseball if a bunch of spoiled brat steroided up wannabes tried to basically break rules and create a super team and screw their own teams in the process...I could totally see myself rooting for the Yankees to beat them. Not sure if this is the same thing, but processing some of the same emotions here

how terrible is it that seeing Bron lose is about as close as the Cavs can get to winning a ring these days? Poor Cleveland

I don't think any circumstance will make me root for the Yankees. Baseball and it's players are much more impersonal than basketball players, so it's hard to just hate a team just because it features a particular player, or types of players.

There's a whole lot more showboating in basketball and a whole lot more crap talk which makes it quite easy to turn on a team simply because you hate one jackass on that team.

And that's how I'm finding myself now with LeBron, he's made the impossible, possible. He's making me root for the Lakers (well not root exactly) when they face each other, even though I also disdain Kobe.

I can make no sense of it. But certainly, if it's the finals, no way I want the Lakers to win it all regardless of competition. But in a vacuum in which championship history has no importance, watching LeBron and this particular Heats team fail would be the best thing to happen this season second to us winning the championship.

no rules were broken and they didn't screw their own teams at all.  Everyone in the world knew Bosh wasn't going to re-sign in Toronto and Lebron did what he could to lure top free agents to Cleveland (no one, like Bosh, would go there).  And the simple reality is, had Cleveland and Toronto actually put together championship caliber teams, they'd more than likely still have their superstar.  Terrible management should never be rewarded.

Thought so :)  Quite honestly, I hate Miami and everything they stand for.  Legitimately more than the Lakers.  But... I don't want them matching us banner-for-banner, so that trumps all.

The Lakers aren't going to sniff the Finals without making some changes.

They have a legitimate shot if Bynum's knees hold up.  Fat chance of that happening, though.

Heat.

I spend every night watching the Eastern Conference scoreboard hoping that the top teams will get L's.

Last night was an almost perfect night, despite Atlanta winning
Philly lost
Orlando Lost
Indy Lost
New York Lost

Plus OKC lost to top it off. I really think that the Celtics are starting a patch of games where they could go 10-2 or 9-3. During that stretch I could see all the 4 loss teams adding 5th and 6th losses. Making the East alot closer.

Lakers.

The Heat are about 15 championships away from me caring about them winning a finals.

BAM!!!!! Hit the nail right on the the head.

I don't think the OP meant championship.  I think he meant just this one game.

I'm rooting for the Lakers for this one game.  As much as I dislike Kobe, I dislike Lebron more.

with regards to winning a title......i hope LBJ gets hurt and cant play in the finals, and the heat win.  Lakers lose, LBJ lose.....win/win for me :)

i could care less about a regular season game between the two
