hes really giving the bench a spark with his 3point shooting and defense...this is the type of backup 3 I think we have needed for awhile

he/Bass bring a nice 1-2 punch off the bench

He's solid. Doesn't waste any energy, plays tight D, has great size, and knocks down open shots. The definition of a guy who does everything well and takes nothing off the table.

Yeah, I gotta say I am very impressed with his performance so far. I did not expect this kind of play out of him, especially after his early season knee troubles (which killed the Suns' trade to Toronto).

Funny thing is we probably could've had him a few seasons ago. I think that was the off season we waited on Posey. I think both Bass and Pietrus were available (earlier in the big 3 era) and we passed on them for lesser players. I remember thinking why didn't we try and get them when they were each brought to the Magic.

Edit: just checked the timing, Pietrus was available in 09 we wasted time waiting on Posey never heard about ANY Celtics interest in him. We resigned house and picked up Daniels if I remember correctly. Bass available in 09 never heard about any Celtics interest we signed Sheed to the MLE instead.

My point, Danny could've had these guys earlier and our bench would've looked a lot better in our better years.

I actually killed Danny that summer for doing next to nothing and one of the pick ups I was calling for was Pietrus(along with Matt Barnes, Roger Mason and Kurt Thomas). Very long thread about it that summer. Pietrus would have looked good in Green over the last few years.

I think I do remember that actually the title was something like "Hard to be optomistic" one of the longest on going threads that summer. That off-season was inexcusably bad. I wanted all the same players and right now it's kind of frustrating because these guys would've been huge difference makers the last two years. I'll admit in 09 I was happy with the Sheed acquistion, but I definitely would've preferred Bass.

Yeah, he does look like a good pickup to be sure.  I wish he were a bit bigger so he'd be better equipped to cover guys like LeBron and Melo, but you can't have everything.

His shooting numbers so far are around his career averages, too, so I think we can be confident that he's not just on a hot streak or something.

We waited on Posey in 2008, not 2009. In 2009 we went at 'Sheed relatively early IIRC, so that shut down our chances at Bass and Pietrus, assuming they weren't willing to take vet min contracts (of the LLE) here.

Our bench would've been insane with Green this year, would've definitely taken a lot of pressure off the starters IMO. Tough break obviously, and thus this team goes only as far as the Big Four take us.

Danny has always had good offseasons besides not using the MLE in 2008. This year is no exception.

hes great. he's a great defender. he knocks down 3s consistently. he loves this organization, and he'll be a great player for this team for years to come.

I love that pickup, but it seems last 2 years, our starting lineup struggles to be healthy

this year it seems our bench is struggling to be healthy

Dooling and Wilcox...sigh~

however Miami, Lakers, and Bull's strongest players are all injured

My bad I just forgot to correct it before posting. We could've had Pietrus in 08, but we ended up waiting on Posey and Bass in 09, but I don't think he was even on Danny's radar.

I for one think that Danny has been consistently underwhelming with his free agent signings. I think Posey and the other 07 signings were his only good signings. Before that he had Blount and Scalabrine to his credit. It seems a stroke of genius hit him in the 07 off-season and quickly left him after. He hasn't done anything or brought in anyone worth noting since the 07 offseason, not until now. Pietrus and Bass are both players we could've had and used earlier. He overlooked them for lesser/older players.

What a breath of fresh air this guy has been. As has been said, just a shame we couldn't have gotten him before now. A keeper for sure.
