Wade should be auctioning this off for a charity or some thing, he doesn't need it, the dealer ship didn't need to do this. Why couldn't they give out 10 $20,000 to people that have to ride the bus to a crappy job, or two instead.

This is what sickens me about the world. The people that make the world go around get nothing and the people they admire because the can do some thing better than the average person (its not like pro athletes  are curing any diseases) get 200,000 dollar presents.

 I think the only thing that would have been worse if it was a Laker player getting the car.

I just don't see the problem with this.  McLaren doesn't have the name recognition that it needs with the people that could be potential customers so they opted for a unique promotion to get exposure to potential clients, and this was a great opportunity to connect closely with many of them.  I don't see this as much different then Honda giving insights to well known community figures. 

If it is the level of opulence, than that is a whole other story, and perhaps more worth of reflection is why NBA (and other sports players) make so much money in the first place.
