A vast majority of Celtics fans seem to be of the opinion that the best thing to do with this current Celtics squad is to "blow it up," which I take to mean getting rid of one or more of our core four players.

I simply cannot get behind that philosophy in any way.  I have admitted to myself after watching the first twelve games that the possibility exists that this team will continue to look old, slow, and done, and not make the playoffs or get bounced in unceremonious fashion in the first round.

On the other hand, the possibility also exists that this team will be able to play themselves into better shape and return to playing ball that resembles what we have seen from them over the past four seasons.

I'm not going to say that I know for sure how this season will play out, but I do know that for me as a fan, I feel that it is imperative to let it play itself out.

I'd rather take the risk of bowing out of the '11-'12 season in humbling defeat than give up on these guys and never know if our Champions had one more run in them.

I do still believe in this group and will be cheering them on until the end regardless of the results.

Regardless if they are 10-2 or 4-8 you can count on the people of this forum overreacting. I will continue to watch (somewhat patiently) and if they don't improve I will be disappointed, if they do I will be happy. I still feel that this season wasn't supposed to happen and I think that a lot of the vets are, and will be, playing catch up for a while. Eventually I think they get it and we are able to turn this around to be a respectable fairwell tour at a minimum.

If they were competing in the first place, that'd be one thing...

I not so sure if it is the majority of the fans right now, but they are the loudest group at the moment.

For good reason, those of us that still have hope for the team have little right now to hang our hats on.

Im fine with suffering through this season.  This group gave us a lot and trading them for crap would disappoint me more than watching KG hobble around the court.

It's going to be a whole new team next season, so let's enjoy the last ride of our guys!

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I still have this overwhelming feeling that in the end, they are going to make us proud and the beginning of this season will seem like a far away distant memory. There is just too much good here to go out like bums. I honestly believe they will not let it happen in the end.

You know how Murtaugh gets the ever-loving crap beaten out of him in the beginning, middle, and end of every Lethal Weapon movie by some younger, faster guy?

And he's got that moment when he's covered in blood in a wet beater that's dirty as can be, and he looks like hot garbage?

Well, what happens next? He gets up, pulls himself together, and kicks the crap out of the bad guys while his mentally unbalanced, physically gifted sidekick loses his mind and kicks the crap out of people too.

The Big-3 are Robert Murtaugh. Rondo is Riggs.

Haha. Maybe Bass gets to be the Rene Russo character? We could bring back Rasheed "Leo Getz" Wallace?

Just think how useful Nate Robinson would be in this analogy.

If we are to let them compete.  We need some reinforcements.

How about Kaman.  He is a free agent at the end of the year.  Perhaps JJ and JO for Kaman.  He would really add rebounding and offense inside.  He could be just what the doctor ordered as he would take much of the pressure of KG>

Kaman
KG
Pierce
Pietrus
Rondo

Bench
Allen
Bass
Dooling
Daniels

Otherwise standing pat isn't going to do it..

Not going to get Kaman for nothing, but exploring Pierce + O'Neal for Kaman, Ariza, and picks may be interesting.

I would agree with that. Remember they also have Minny's unprotected pick. The Wolves are currently 5-8 and New Orleans 3-10, so either pick would be really nice. However, I'm not crazy about Ariza's salary cap figure for the next couple of years. I think I'd prefer to take back Belinelli, and his expiring contract instead.

Isn't NO already on the rebuild path?  What would they make this trade?
