  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'd be fine with whatever for any player on the roster as long as it's part of a clear plan with contending in mind. No stop gaps, no also-ran seasons, full rebuilding or immediate contention.

His blessing...

I don't think I could ever really accept trading away Paul Pierce, but his blessing would certainly help.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

(Along with his blessing) I think I'd accept a trade to the Hawks.

Pierce SF/SG
Bass PF

for

J. Smith PF/SF
M. Williams SF

Pierce could provide the Hawks with a scorer/playmaker who can really help Iso-Joe.

Obviously Josh Smith is playing very well right now but that is with Al Horford out. Come playoff time a lineup of:

Teague
Johnson
Pierce
Horford
Pachulia

then Bass, Hinrich, McGrady, I. Johnson, off the bench.

That's a lineup that becomes much more dangerous in the Playoffs, everything ATL loses in Smith they makeup for with players who know their roles and where to get there points.

Every time i hear about the Hawks i constantly hear about how disapointed they are with Marvin Williams AND how Josh Smith just can't seem to get over that hump.

From the Celtics perspective It'd obviously be tough to watch Pierce leave, but this could really jump start a rebuilding movement.

Rondo
Allen
Pietrus
Smith
Stiemsma

then KG, JO, Daniels, Dooling, Moore off the bench

That's a nice team to close out the season, Ray Allen and KG peace out in the off-season. Go after somebody in Free Agency, get back Jeff Green, if you still don't like what you see... let Williams walk and go after somebody else in Free Agency.

I have tried to find a trade that sends him to either team in LA. I figure if you are going to trade him, he should both go back home and to teams that have a shot at winning a title.

Since the ESPN trade machine is being revamped and the Realgm Tradechecker is not up to date, it has been hard. The Lakers have a large trade exception so perhaps we could trade Pierce for that and a first rounder, then flip the exception for someone like Josh Smith. I am not sure any of that works since I have no tools to check with.

There are two players that Celtics fans seem to have their hearts set on somehow acquiring. Those two guys are Josh Smith and OJ Mayo. For the life of me, I don't understand what people see in these guys.

OJ Mayo is the back up to our old back up!!! Tony Allen!

Josh Smith is athletic, but has no jump shot and turns the ball over more than Rondo!

Can you imagine an offense like ours, that struggles immensely to find offense with 2 excellent shooters like Pierce and Ray, with Josh Smith inserted instead of Pierce?

Rondo, JO, KG, Smith, and Ray Allen...The scoring droughts would be simply horrific.
He would make a nice highlight reel with Rondo but he is not getting us anywhere near a championship.
I'd rather wait out Pierce's contract and choose to spend the money wisely then locking up Smith who is always going to be overpaid.
Don't understand the fascination with Josh Smith. He goes on streaks but has zero basketball IQ and no jumpshot.
Way over rated.

Championship? Ray Allen? KG? I'm talking about rebuilding the team. Ray Allen, JO, and KG need to get out of town.

It's funny because ALL Ray Allen and KG have are their jumpshots and his basketball IQ...

Plus Josh Smith isn't getting locked up, he's under contract for 2 years then the Celtics could let him walk for cap space.

The 2 year part makes it more appealing, but Smith just not add up to a championship caliber forward to me.

I really only like Smith here if it guarantees getting Dwight Howard.

I don't care about rebuilding if it's not going to win us a championship. What's the point of moving Pierce or a veteran when we get an overrated/overpaid guy in return?

Do you honestly think Josh Smith at starting power forward or three spot is going to improve us for the future- as in championship caliber team?
Again, I am willing to admit that for 2 years he might be worth a shot to see how he helps Rondo with his speed/athleticism but
I feel that Jeff Green has the potential to be a better player than Josh Smith if he were given that role and responsibility in a years time- a guy we already have who will command less money.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I want PP to stay as a Celtic as much as possible. But if a deal that involves Gerald Wallace and a '12 1st round pick will be in place (some fillers to match salaries but the piece of the trade is PP and Wallace + 1st), I think that'll be too good of a deal to pass.

Not saying Portland is gonna do it, but if that's the deal, Paul, I love yah but I'm doing it.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I've never been much of a PP fan, mainly due to his antics, but in order for me to trade him, I need to sit down and have a man to man and get his feelings.  He would be as close to untradeable as they come, unless he is OK with helping the franchise in the long run, and, oh by the way, going to a contender where he might get another ring.

I just believe Danny has to at the best interest of the club, long term.  No one is untradeable.  Heck, even Peyton Manning may be gone this year!

i am against any trade involving pierce.  i would rather be mediocre or even suck, and have him retire a celtic and have #34 in the rafters.  like i said in a previous thread, seeing that happen would be as special to me as another championship banner.
