This isn't another "feel good" thread.  I don't know exactly how I would classify this thread other than to say it expresses my feelings for this season.

I don't post much because I usually just absorb what everyone else writes and I arrive to the party late alot so others usually express my opinion for me.

I just wanted to say that this season to me is a "bonus" season.  This is the season that wasn't supposed to occur, the season that almost didn't happen, and the season that would have left many of us with yet more countless "what if" threads for the forseeable future.

Had there been a lockout I would have had to occupy my evenings with more working out and I probbably would have gone to bed early adding years to my life.  My work at the office would have improved because I wouldn't have had anything to peruse the internet for, scanning for rumors and reading all the posts on Celticsblog.  I probably would have ended up in the corner office by years end.

All of that being said, I wouldn't trade this season for anything.  I don't want extra time, I want the Celtics.  I don't want the corner office because then I have to work harder.  I want to watch 66 games and the slam dunk contest and the playoffs.  This season shouldn't be here.  Nobody got what they wanted out of the last deal and it didn't improve the league at all.  The fact that I watched a very competitive game last night and was able to curse out Russell Westbrook and vow to never want him in Celtics Green is GREAT!!

We all get to enjoy this bonus season and hold out hope that it'll turn around.  If we didn't have the season we'd have all those "we-would-have-won-the-championship-in-11-12-because-we-were-veterans-and-rested-and-Rondo-would-be-MVP-and-Paul-Pierce-would-average-30ppg-while-showing-Garnett-how-terrible-his-career-was-in-comparison" threads.  As much as I enjoy reading these threads, I don't need another KG knee injury conspiracy/what-if thread.  I'm glad we can all see this happening because we all would have felt pretty empty if KG, Ray and PP were carted out last year or retired and then we all had to wonder if they had one last run.

So now we get to find out.  We have 54 more games to see if there is one more run and if there isn't we have clusure, basketball, and some money to spend next season.

Terrific Post, 35Lewis, well said!  Thank you for finding the positives of the season...and you a are right.  I would rather be here with my fellow fans and friends in a less than stellar season than not have a season at all.

  • Rondo = Good
so your basic point is that this is a kind of Schrodinger's cat situation, right?

if we had never gotten the chance to open the box, we wouldn't know for sure whether the cat is alive or dead.

now that we've gotten the chance to open the box, we can say for sure that the cat is dead.  but at least we know that there isn't a live cat wasting away in there.

Ahhh, but cats have 9 lives, the cat may revive...

I agree - all offseason when people talked about the Celtics I said I just hoped there was an '11-12 Celtics team.

So far it's been pretty disappointing, but the Big 3 have done a lot for us, and this is very likely to be their last season together.  I'm glad we get to watch them play together for awhile longer, even if they can't get to the heights they used to.

I guess I'm happy there is a season, and one more run for the Big Three.  But if they're going to go down like this (blown out every game) it's going to be painful.
