I have no desire to see this team get somewhat better, finish 7th in the east then get wiped out by either Miami or Chicago in the first round. What long term sense would that make?

We get it! The agenda is getting old. The Celtics as of January 14th 2012 are not a playoff team. But, the Celtics as of May 14th 2012 will be.

That's a valid point, however you also fail to point out that this team didn't have a preseason and a few teams that were supposed to be good are off to slow starts too. The Celtics also lost Jeff Green who was supposed to be a big part of the team, lots of new pieces to integrate in such a short period of time.
