  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
KG for Smith and Hinrich works I believe. But if I were Danny, I'd gauge their interest in Jermaine.

I'm pretty sure any conversation with them would start with Ray or KG, but if it is just about expirings, then it couldn't hurt to offer up Jermaine and anyone else.

As has also been discussed, to get Smith, we may have to take on Joe Johnson and probably part with Ray AND KG. What are people's thoughts on this? Is JJ really not worth it for the next couple of years?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
lol I thought this was a joke thread when I saw the title.
You are actually being serious?
I would take KG at age 40 over Pachulia.
We could get a much better player back or multiple players back in return for KG and his expiring contract.

Never thought I'd see the day of a proposal of KG for a backup center scrub.
This whole thread is quite disrespectful, it really is.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

at this point, kg and ray for joe johnson and josh smith would be great for our team. giving up ray would be a real blow at first, but getting smith in return would be awesome in the long run. imagine rondo running the floor with pierce, joe, and smith. i think that team with our current bench would be a decent center away from championship material.

If they are going to trade KG, I don't see the point in Pachulia. He isn't even young. He will be 28 next month. And Atlanta needs a Center more than a PF, so what exactly is Atlanta's motivation?

What exactly is Atlanta trying to do?

KG for Smith and Zaza maybe.

KG and Ray for JJ, Smith and Zaza, maybe.

Young prime talent for the C's but JJ's contract is a killer.  Kiss the cap space away but a line-up of Rondo, JJ, PP, Smith and a center not name JO next year (not necessarily Zaza) would be pretty solid.  I'd write this year off as being a 4-5 seed optimistically if the new guys ever mesh under Doc.

Add Bass and Green off the bench next year(or switch Green for PP in the starting line-up if PP plays the year in a funk) with some development from Steimsma, JJJ, Moore, Bradley and 2 1st rounders next year.  C's aren't looking too bad.

Ok, so I see I should've also put Smith's name in the thread title, since most people were too lazy to read my whole post and see that part of it. And as I said elsewhere in this thread, I was just rapidly brainstorming on how we could get a decent center, and combining that with the growing sentiment here that KG is washed up and should go. Apparently, though, there are a lot of people on here who are know-it-all jerks and just can't resist getting in some jabs.

Al Horford is out for 3-4 months with a torn pectoral ... anybody down with KG for Pachulia, or KG for Smith? In the former scenario, Pachulia becomes our starting center, with Bass moving to starting PF and Wilcox becoming his main backup. In the latter scenario, we at least get younger and more athletic with Smith as the starting PF.

P.S.: ESPN's trade checker is down, so I couldn't check this.
Is this some sort of joke?
