Not surprising.  I'm expecting at least one major move before the trade deadline.

I don't think he needs to "threaten" anything -- he's got both the knife and the bread in his hands, figuratively speaking. Plus, I don't think he'll make a move for the sake of making a move.

But does have the peanut butter and jelly as well? ;)
No, I'm sure he likes Nutella better.

I just don't understand why we wait so long in this condensed season, I think he needs to get us a big right now if it's possible! Why wait until deadline for it to be much more hard for them to get comfortable with the new guy? I have nothing against JO but he just won't cut it as our main C!! He had to be "rested" today... what did he play yesterday, 15mins (after being off 4 days)??? You gotta be kidding me! I see a LOT of our problems stem from our C position! No one is scared or even hesitant about roaming inside on us! No rebounds! No points (what did JO get us, like 4 points last night)! If Jo helps off his man he isn't quick enough to get back to at least bother his man (that's not totally his fault though, it's mainly on the guards who let their man roam free). Someone needs to tell me a championship team with their starting and basically only real center (Stiems is excluded b/c really? championship caliber??) who only can give you maybe 15 minutes a night with average play (below average play). If Jo came off the bench I'd see no problem but he cannot be our starter with what he has shown... Mia beat us bad already with him at the head last seasons playoffs, now you want me to believe he is a key to beating them this season?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • Let's Go Celtics!
As I said on the front page, we're in year 5 of a 3-year plan. Change is long overdue.

I'm not sure what's out there for us to trade for, but we need to start thinking long term. I just don't see this group getting it done. I know we're not supposed to be endangering our cap space for this offseason, but have you looked at the UFA market? There's no one out worth paying for, and the best way to utilize future cap might be through a trade where we take on longterm money an expiring.

Agreed. What's with the "threaten" angle?  He's just stating the obvious.

I'm glad to hear this. If we really aren't going to get it together, Danny can talk to the vets and tell them he wants to give them a chance to play for something this season by sending them to other teams as rentals. It would be nice get get some young talent back and some salary relief. Save the money for the next run.

I hope we can turn it around because it would be sad to see the trades, but that is my heart speaking. My head feels like it is time to see what we can get for the older guys if we trade them to contenders.

[Unrelated: Just watched another nice finish by TA. I'm happy for him.]

I think KG and Pierce really are safe though if any moves are made I'm thinking it's gotta be Ray or Rajon

Because of Rajon Rondo's iffy scoring touch in the half-court, Kevin Garnett's wispy frame in the post, and the sheer amount of work it takes to free Ray Allen for a shot late in games, Paul Pierce has to become more of a threat towards the end of games. It's an odd thing to say for a player that may have been the NBA's top late-game option for years, even though Boston's lean times, but the C's continue to lose close contests even though they enter the fourth with a 2.7 points per game average (good for 12th in the NBA).
Throw in the team's inability to grab second chances, and you have a frustrating 4-5 team to behold. We think Danny was being rather tactful, though, and we're also sharing in his apparent belief that the Celtics still have enough to not only make an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals or Finals, but make some noise amongst the NBA's final four in June.

Ray Allen putting up good personal numbers but at expense of overall offense. C's waste a lot of time trying to get him open. when Ray doesn't get open the offense suffers. that has been our achilles heel the Offense is too Ray Allen centric.

With the way Ray has been shooting and how inefficient kg and pierce have been on offense what choice do we really have?

Don't do it, Danny!

Wow....I still think it's too early to make any changes.

Celtics offense is the problem. These HOF players shouldn't be struggling this much. KG is relegated to shooting long jump shots instead of playing in the post. Pierce doesn't get the ball enough just five shots last night.

It does sound like he was talking about a problem with the team's system. Imo, the lack of offensive rebound has to do with always having our bigs so far from the basket on offense. Whether it be spotting up for an 18 footer or setting a pick to free up shooters. Our bigs are constantly away from the basket and are encouraged to get back on defense that pretty much explains it to me.

Both of these points are true, and I can except them as part of an overall defensive-minded philosophy. What I can't except, though, is Boston giving up so many offensive rebounds. It's OK, I feel, to sacrifice your own offensive rebounding for the sake of getting back on defense, but it's unacceptable to not get at least most of the available defensive rebounds. Rebounding is a key part of defense, and it's pointless, not to mention demoralizing, to play great defense, force a missed shot ... and then give the opponent a fresh 24.

It sucks to admit it but its true some change is needed. I would love to keep the guys around but we just can't win another ring with this as our team. I LOVE KG And Ray really do but they seem to be the only guys that could bring back some talent. I wonder if we can get a three-way going with some team out west desprate for some cap space that could swing us Dwight. Don't know how it could work but you never know. I can sit here and say that I would love these guys to stay in green but I think someone is heading out that door and it aint paul pierce.
