Basically the rest of the season. Big hit for Atlanta. They really lose a lot with this injury.

Wow, my fantasy teams take a huge hit. Horford is one of my cornerstones.

Zaza Pachulia is not cut out to be a starter. Too weak defensively.

Atlanta's big man rotation is going to take a major hit. Their backup bigs are fine in small roles but will get exposed in a big way when playing extended minutes.

Borderline playoff team?

Sorry to hear and bad news for the Hawks.

Good news for us since I'm pretty sure they were going to finish with a better record.

Compound that with the frugality of the Atlanta front office. Kirk Hinrich represents a large expiring contract, so they have a chip to cash in. But will they?

I doubt they'll do much to address the situation via trade, but will instead go for a by-committee approach between what they have, some free agent retread (Dampier?), and perhaps some rookies/D-Leaguers.

That's really rough for Atlanta.  This will certainly hurt their regular season record.  Could give the C's a chance to leap ahead of them in the ultimate standings.  Still no doubt the Hawks will make the playoffs.

This could make them especially desperate to make some trades to add additional depth, however.

This is a big hit for the Hawks. Like other's have mentioned, they don't have the front court depth to handle this type of blow. They need to make a trade. With Vladimir Radmanovic coming on decent so far this season, Marvin Williams becomes expendable. I'm not sure what he can net the Hawks with that contract, though: 3 years $24 million remaining, I believe.

What do you guys think in terms of fantasy ramifications?

My position (Standard League Format -- Roto):

I have Lopez taking up my IR spot but I'm keeping Horford in one of my 3 bench slots. I dropped Carlos Delfino for Zaza to see what he can do as a starter.

Should I just move on from Horford?

Do you think you are guaranteed a playoff spot and hope to keep him for the playoffs? Do you think someone else is going to pick him up over the next 2 months if you cut him? This is also a short season, meaning 3-4 months might be the entire season.

I assume Roto has a set # of games per position. If that isn't the case, than wasting a roster spot is a bad idea. If you have a set # of games per position, than it isn't as big of a deal.

I think they'll make a move, a la Orlando when Nelson went down (trading for Alston).  I don't think they'll stand pat with a Pachulia/Collins center rotation.

Either that or they'll go really small by playing a Smith/Pachulia/Radmanovic/Williams big rotation.

Why would you hold on to a player who will be out for ~3 months?!
