Either this Summer or next.  Bank on it.

This is PP's fairwell tour one way and I hope all fans recognize that.

Its a possibility, but I think they only do it with his blessing, and likely would only be after he decides to retire.

I think there is a legitimate possibility both Pierce and KG retire after this season, and if Pierce retires, they will likely work out a buyout, and amnesty the money remaining (or something like that).

I think there is zero chance PP gets amnestied without his retirement. I know we are fans of the team and not of the players but if this was done against his wishes then Danny would be run out of town by the masses and it wouldn't be pretty. I also think Danny knows that.

I don't see that happening.

The only chance I can see is if he and Wyc sit down and come to an agreement.  If the C's decide they would like to move on, and he agrees that he doesn't see himself in the future of the franchise.  So, they amnesty him so he can ringchase elsewhere.

I don't see him chasing rings anywhere else. I feel if he gets to that point it will only be if he feels he was wronged by the Celts brass. Otherwise it's a straight retirement where he still gets paid and he helps the club to move on.

I can't see Pierce retiring this summer. Garnett, yes. Pierce, no.

Pierce has only just turned 34.

I really can't call this one.  Surely an injury or surprise retirement would lead to an amnesty (like we used the last one on Vin Baker's buyout deal to get it off the cap), but I don't see Paul just getting cut because he's not in the plans.

I also don't think I can see Paul wanting to leave Boston to ring chase.  He already has one.  It's not like Ray Bourque.  But, on the other hand, I could see him passing on a rebuilding year to play for the Clippers for a year or two, but I doubt it.

I think the C's will keep him around no matter what.  He has value to a rebuilding team if we go with young players.    It's not like contenders are the only teams that need talented, versatile veterans.  He has value if we do actually land a top FA, too.  So the most likely scenario is that he stays for at least most of his contract, barring injury.

Nothing like a 5-point loss at home to the defending champs to bring out the bold and baseless prognostications.

I agree with the sentiment but these arent exactly the same spurs that beat the heat.

I will say though I also dont think that this team will be playing at this level come playoff time.  I think we will have improved or Danny will have blown it up.  Its a long season and a game like this won't swing things one way or another

I think he is still injured.  There have been spots when he looked good.  But he is still battling conditioning issues.

Definitely not the same Spurs that beat the Heat.  As a matter of fact, they are the Mavericks.

The confusion is understandable, though.  They're both a couple of older, yet still dangerous teams from Texas.
