I would ask what kind of calculator the Jazz are using.  KG can't be traded straight up for Jefferson, let alone with JO and Moore.

add whoever else to the deal then

Its not that easy.  And that is the point.  It is incredibly difficult to trade away a guy who makes $21 million, but has become a role player, without taking back horrendous contracts in return, that will set the franchise back even further.
I think there may be some trades out there that would be doable that wouldn't set the franchise back even further.  Not that I would trade for Joe Johnson, because he doesn't make us a title contender, but he is a guy that comes to mind that wouldn't set the franchise back (it just wouldn't get the C's much closer to a title, so what is the point).

If you use the Clippers pick, I think there may be a few moves that could be made that wouldn't that bad.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

This is one of those trades that probably improves the team, but it's not one you'd make.

A team building around Rondo & Big Al is a team striving for mediocrity, a 5 seed at best. Not the kind of place you want to be. Be awful or be great.

Yes, they are out there.  But they are few and far between, and the question is whether they will be better value than what you can get with the cap space (either free agents, or using it for trades).

I think Danny will keep an eye open for those deals.  But I am not going to hold my breath.

I'd say no.  with Al's contract, it's essentially saying the team wants to build around Rondo and Al and our cap space for FA's in the next 2 years goes to hell.

I love Big Al but I think Danny can fill out a contender better if he sits tight until 2013 and goes all out for 2 cornerstone players that year.
