The starters were terrible on offense.
Coming off the Indiana game, this was the most alarming part to me. They looked just plain flat from the get go. We pounded our way back into the game but by the end it was scary to see that Ray Allen wasn't scoring and Pierce was virtually non-existent and Jermaine O'Neil looks like he's just not getting the job done. I see flashes from all of them from time to time but there is no consistency to speak of. I'm almost starting to wonder if these guys should come off the bench instead of starting the game.
We've got to make other team's tired, not vice versa. We started out tired and looked that way throughout. At halftime, they were interviewing Terry and he basically called the whole team except Rondo old.
I'm almost for flipping the switch and letting our young guys start if for nothing else, to make the other team run after them and get a bit worn down themselves and then have our old war horses come off the bench fresh and play like they should for spot minutes and key stretches. Sure we'll fall behind to start games but our old's could then come on when their players are worn down.
I think we have the pieces, we just need a better way of utilizing them.
Or, we can just do like we are and keep hoping these guys eventually get into shape. I won't lose the faith one way or another but last night was alarming how unfresh we looked after having 4 days off and playing at home. I mean come on! That's as good as it's going to get for the rest of the season in terms of rest.
