I think the title to the thread is an overstatement, but I agree, he does bring energy (as does Pietrus, Dooling, Bass and Steimsma), and this team desperately needs that.

I think it is more of a comdemnation on the starters than anything, but right now, he is helping this team.

In an ideal world, Bradley would be playing on a rebuilding team that would commit minutes to him and tell him that he is going to learn how to shoot in the NBA, not the D-League.

If the Celtics are rebuilding in 2012-2013, they should consider doing that.  They either develop Bradley into a poor man's Ben Gordon with All-NBA defense or they get a really nice pick in 2013 because he drags the team down.

You can't argue that he is a ballhawk one on one and disrupts the ball handler, but other than that he is worthless!

I don't see what people see in the kid that warrants so much hope. He is not a good ball handler. Not a good shooter at this point. Can't finish at the rim. (end of the first half anyone?!) He stagnates our offense. Yes he harasses the other teams PG pretty well, but really guys. He doesn't do anything else at an NBA level. He needs to ride the pine! Send him to the D League already.

Bradley is one of the few guys on the team who can keep up with Rondo.  If Rondo is the centerpiece of this team - and he is - they have to build around him.  

Bradley is key to that.  His shooting is not good (an NBA gurad should never miss by that much on a wide open 3).  But he can attack the rim and get out on the break.

I want to see more Rondo-Bradley-Pietrus-Bass-Stiemer on the floor.  That is going to be our second unit in the playoffs, unless JJJ develops or Chris Wilcox finally gives a [dang].  That is also our most athletic 5 - maybe you could throw Drooling in there, but I'd rather have him play with the starters because we need Rondo with the bench.

Well, doc sees something many folks here do not since he plays Bradley.

Doc may value his defense more than we do.

Doc may think the second unit needs defense more than offense.

Doc may see that the loss of offense is not that great compared to what Pavo or Moore might bring, or at least Bradley's defense makes up the difference.

Doc may see Bradley put on a credible offensive show in practice and figure once he gets confidence in games he will be fine.

Doc may see that the starters and the rest of the bench simply cannot run with rondo and any help is better than rondo going at the basket alone  and getting knocked down.

Maybe all the above or none. But doc sees something in him. I do see that Bradley has pretty good shooting form, But the shots aren't going in. Whether the problem is confidence is something none of us know for sure.

I'd go the opposite and bring the players Rondo needs to run with into the starting line up, move the has-beens to the bench with Dooling.  If they make it to the playoffs, Doc's going to play Rondo more minutes than anyone else on the team--he's got to be with the starters.

I will say that after being at the game last friday against the bulls I became a big Avery fan.  When he was guarding Rose at the begining of the 4th quarter he took rose out of the game.  I have never seen Rose look so uncomfortable with the ball in his hand and Rose kept passing it away. 

The guy in front of me was an abnoxious bulls fan and even he was yelling at rose about being the MVP and not giving up the ball in a close game.

Avery made the MVP not want the ball in his hands, that has to mean something.

I disagree with the subject header.

Instead, I prefer "Everytime Avery Bradley plays, I realize he doesn't belong in the NBA." 

He's always making horrible passes, maintaining zero court vision, shooting poorly, and stalling the offense.

  One one end of the floor Bradley looks like a game changer and on the other end he looks like a High School player.  Defensively this kid is really, really good and he is equally bad on offense.

I love how this started as a positive Avery Bradley thread, and then after about three posts it just went downhill.  Unreal!  Look, Bradley's strength right now is his ball-hawking ability and overall defense.  However, this kid can also shoot it pretty well from mid-range too.  I know that the #'s don't show it, but I've seen him make at least 15-20 mid-range shots for us and he has terrific form and elevation on his jumper.  He just needs to slow down and stop rushing everything.

He's just 21 years old and has had barely any time to develop.  Calling him trash or not an NBA-level player is just ridiculous.  If you (the haters) can't see glimpses of his overall talent, then I'm not sure what you are watching.

Improved play from AB can only help the squad.

I felt he had it in him all the time...he just needed time.

I'm happy for him...I hope he continues to improve - both offensively and even defensively.

Anyone extra who we can throw at Kobe or DWade is a plus.

He is getting better no doubt , and he needs lots of court time .  His trade value is /will go up...he's young and can recover from injuries fast.
IF the Celtics continue to falter to med -good great teams and are out of the playoffs I would play AB a ton, bring up his stock. Let the big three healup good , for trade bait.

Yeah , I'd work Moore , AB and JJ as much as possible to see how quick or much they can advance .

I agree with that.  But there are people who have indeed called him 'trash' and even posted graphics equating him to trash.

Is that having 'an opinion' or is it 'hating'?

Note - that same question applies to the way some have expressed 'opinions' on other players as well, not just Bradley.
