Poor Conditioning??

Perhaps this is why we came up flat against New Orleans and Indiana. If so, this could be a very difficult season because the schedule only gets rougher. Did the lockout distraction affect the extended off-season preperation of the players? I suspect Boston is not the only team to experience this phenomenom of poor preparation from the players. I hope that this is not the case.

This is happening all around the league.  There have been some very erratic scores, and a lot more blowouts than usual.

I think we are seeing the effects of the lockout, both in sloppy play, but also poor conditioning.  The thing is though, I think the C's have been more resilient than most teams so far this season.  They have struggled with their execution, but they have continued to fight when down, which has not been happening a lot around the league.

Poor prep might be part of it. For us, age of our best three players is going to be a bigger part of it.

I saw this earlier and my first thought was Ray Allen - it looks like his OTT conditioning is paying off early in the season with the numbers he's posting ..

IMO the unusual amount of low scoring games, by one team or both, is also due to the lockout and limited practice/workouts

I keep wondering how good the Celtics might look with their legs under them for 4 quarters in game shape. I don't think they have looked like they were in complete game shape yet this season. I'm wondering when (or if) it'll happen? February? March? It's sad when you look at these guys and they look old and tired. We're too old to compete for us to NOT be in condition. We're too easy to beat otherwise.

The wind sprints sound like a great idea, Doc, but be careful.  I think there's a fine balance that's going to have to be reached this season between making sure the guys get and stay in game shape, but also stay rested enough to not get run down.

Wind Sprints are OK proved that you do it 2 days after a game and 2 days before the next game. Monday is about the only day (except All-Star break) that met that criteria.

Yeah, the season is a handicapping nightmare. The quality of basketball is thoroughly horrible right now.

I guess we need to be a little more patient to watch our team develop and improve later into the season and then hopefully, the playoffs. That said, we have an opportunity to beat a couple of solid opponents at home and get some momentum going.

They only players that seem to be in shape have been RR and RA. Rondo played a little over the off season. And Ray is a runaholic . But even at times they still seem to drag. Rondo has been slow the last couple games. Probably due to the fast start.

Yup you will see more low scoring games this season then in any other season in the new Millennium. It's not just Boston.

Ray does a lot more endurance training--running and bicycling than most players do.  Makes you wonder if most players in part mis-train for their sport.

It was sad by doc today n the Boston Herald...the Celts are wayyyyy out of shape....well, that explains a lot...that is why they settle for outside shots...then weak legs make the shots not fall....lame Defense, no rebounding, no inside game....as I always say..when did they think they would get in shape....this is professonal sports..? Where is the PRO part..? Well, it won't get better soon...and younger teams will be running all over us......THEY can get n shape faster and easier...I hate to hear this..!
