I saw this quote on Nash from a ESPN article would they take Rondo?

Quote
According to one theory circulating in GM circles, Phoenix favors keeping Nash for the entire season at least partly because it knows it can't possibly get multiple difference-making assets for him now, having held onto the league's fifth-oldest player for so long instead of moving him sooner. And if Nash elects to walk away in July, deciding it's finally time to put himself first after resisting any urges to force his way out like we expect NBA stars to do when rings are out of reach, Sarver will be able to say that he tried his hardest to hang onto No. 13 and just couldn't stop him.
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

What anybody sees in los Nash is beyond me.  Makes a mockery of NBA defense and is a blithering idiot.

I like Nash, but he's not worth trading Rondo for.

Steve Nash=incredible vision, great passer tough as nails player

at this point in his career he is 2nd tier to rondo, paul, williams & rose and unlike this group is near the end of his career

biggest differences btw Nash and Rondo right now:

Nash=much better shooter, better maturity and leadership, too old and can't play defense

Rondo=much younger, faster, more athletic, knows our system, can't shoot, has attitude issues, and often choses not to play defense

still, no way I trade Rondo for Nash right now, Rondo is our only valuable asset and we are about to dive into rebuilding this summer

Who told you that Rondo is top tier with the other 3 names you mention?

Rondo/JO for Nash/Gortat?

Would that be an upgrade?

More solid in the middle, + offense, - defense?

Dooling/Moore
Ray/Bradley/Daniels
Pierce/Pietrus/Pavlovic
KG/Bass/J3
Gortat/Wilcox/Stiemsma

Next year:

Draft Pick/Moore
Pierce/Bradley
JGreen/
Bass/J3
Gortat/

Oh, crap no!

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a lot of People around here are obsessed about trying to put together an All-star team from 2002.

The biggest issue this team faces is that opposing teams have better athletes and our aging Big Three cannot deal with that night in and night out.

Anything Nash adds to the offense he takes away from the defense two fold.  If you want to see KG, JO, Bass and the rest of the front court in constant foul trouble then bring in Steve Nash

I think you subconsciusly left Nash out of your depth charts.

I think he's assuming that this is the end of the line for Mr. Nash.

If we are all-in this year, I think I do this if Phoenix throws in this years first round pick, or if they are reluctant, our option at years end for the better of their pick and our own, so we would have the option of switching first round picks.

So the deal would be Nash/Gortat/Phoenix's first or switch for Rondo/JO.

Phoenix gets the best player in the deal and a building block for the future in Rondo. JO is an expiring. Their pick could be a lottery pick (but at least they could possibly have our pick in a real strong draft) but Rondo is a proven top 5 championship PG. No guarantee that they would do better than him in the lottery. They get something real substantial for Nash rather than have him walk at season's end for nada.

Yah, I know, Nash's defense sucks, but what he brings on offense puts so much pressure on the other teams D, that I think that it more than makes up for his non-existent defense. We just constantly rotate or 4 and 5 and have them use all their fouls.

Amazing passer (at least Rondo's equal, since he has done it with fewer weapons at his disposal)and a threat to score off the dribble, spotting up, incredible dribble penetration (ever see him drive baseline under the basket and then reverse himself and go under the basket again and then again?)and either scores himself or finds the open man. Not a bad free throw shooter, either (one of the best ever).

Gortat will give us 30 tough minutes a game and is an animal rebounder, a hard fouler and runs the floor. (Just can't block shots like JO). We will have a legit starting center.

The draft pick is huge for our future and Nash is another huge expiring.

I think this gives us our best shot for this year and gives a lot of flexibility/optiions next year. S&T Nash, Green (if no one signs him this year) KG and/or RA>

TP, you can't draw conclusions unless you actually watch them play in real life. Highlight reels give you the glamorous side of the game.
