Doc did get out coached. He couldn't string together a lineup that could match Indiana's rebounding, second chance points, and eventual shooting touch, that come from all the rebounding...( you get to keep shooting till it works!) along with Celts aged guys who are a step slower, and a reflex lesser in their jump than younger teams.

Our rebounding; Doc's stance was, last year and previous- Don't waste energy on offensive rebounding, get back on D....Well, that is here again. I watched Steisma ( steamer ) movng well without the ball, and, after every shot while he was out there ( limited) roll to the hole looking for that rebound. Bass stopped doing that..if he ever did last night, and NO one else...with the exception of RONDO tried t at all. So it is a one shot possesion. You cannot live by jumpshooting alone.

Steisma.....he has a hand on almost every ball, offense or defense rebounds...his "tips" will not show up on a stat, but t can be just as good as a rebound, because our guys can be the ones who get it from that. His desire to block shots is good, and effective. On the offense, he knows when to take his shot, when to pass, and when to use his body as an offense     ( pick ) that is as good as a pick.it blocks the defender, giving rondo lane, that really wasn't there without it. The problem with this, is that doc pulled him way too early.

A lineup with Oneil or steamer, kg and bass would have been worth a try, with Ray and rondo, especally when we were within 7 in the last 5 minutes....can't say he was  SAVING our guys for later....their rebounding was killing us..our shooting was very poor, and even passing was weak....odd night overall...and the refs...ugh, ugh.....impossible to fathom..they are barely high school quality..and are killing the league..it looks worse than "pro" boxing....fixed or not qualified.

Why anyone expects Doc to make up for an off nite is beyond me. He's a good Coach in good times bad in bad. He chokes big time. I was waiting for this Indy game and got what I expected and worse. 3 wins against awful teams. We might be the class of 500 teams. I'm not disappointed and it's not an Einstein theory. Writings on the wall. Missed the 2nd half due to self preservation instincts. This is a football and baseball town anyway except for the 1 banner blip.

Except for Ray (23 pts, 7-11 fg's, 4-5 3pt) and Rondo (11 pts, 9 ast, 5 rebs, 3 stl, 2 to's) this was a pretty lousy effort all around. 47 rebs for Indiana, 36 for the Celts. That's the game right there. Moving along...

What I saw was, basically, a preseason game. A lot of the kids from the bench looked lost (Wilcox, Dooling, Quisy) and the whole team looked uninterested, leading to Indy runs. Bass and Bradley were rather solid, but didn't produce much from the bench either.

JO looked, at times, very good, and Ray is Ray. Rondo, when he wanted to, showed what he can be. The Captain didn't have a good night, but he and KG will be ok.

I stopped watching at the halftime (25 points?), so we can agree the Celtics have to play much better than last night. They just need practice, recover the injuries and put Pietrus in the mix. They'll improve, no doubt.

This season will be crazy, but it doesn't matter, we'll get our chance against Miami and Chicago in Playoff time. We're no longer the better team, but we can still beat them in a series.

Go Celtics!

Rondo's "effort" resulted in every point guard that was matched against him torching us with uncontested foul line jump shots and wide open layups. So excuse me if I'm not impressed.

JO shot a scintillating 1-3.  He did not play that good offensively.  He boarded ok though.  Hibbert looked good against him though.

I would like to see Doc start Bradley for Rondo once, Johnson for KG and Moore for PP.   I doubt it would work at the NBA level though to motivate these guys.  That works in grade school, high school and college but pros would probably just laugh at it.

I hope 4 days of practice helps us iron out some of our problems.  However, I am not so optimistic.   We are old and practice doesn't always benefit the older guys.

People keep saying the problems are age, but really, where has that been a problem in these losses? Yeah, Pierce didn't play especially well last night, but in general, even in the losses the Big 3 are doing well.

The problem is the inconsistency of the center spot and the bench. I am confident the latter will pull its act together with time, we have seen flashes of brilliance from the bench. The center spot ... not sure about. Steemer and Wilcox are great for what they do. I like JO, and trust him enough in the playoffs if he is healthy, but would love an upgrade there.

Indiana's pgs shot 6-15 and at least a couple of Collison's baskets came when Rondo was guarding someone else.

Not just the center spot.  This team is a poor rebounding team and has been a poor rebounding team for quite some time.  That is the biggest problem for me.  We are second to last in the league in rebounding.  If we're going to get out-rebounded every game, we are going to be at a major disadvantage.  Also, I understand the kid Stiesma isn't a superstar, but he's earned a little more playing time then what he's getting.  Is he a starting five in the league? Probably not, but he looks a heck of a lot better then Jermaine O'Neal at this point.

Seconded. Rondo gambles a lot but he was pretty good defensively. I'm pretty sure they wanted Collison taking shots anyways. They were giving him the shot all first half and he was planking.

Easily one of the craziest suggestions that I have ever read here.

1.  if you think we were struggling before, wait and see what would happen after this idea was in place.

2.  that would go over great with the guys ::)

this is completely off topic, but a question i have wanted to ask, why do u always use "....." in every post? i feel like 99% of all ur post have it.  not starting anything with u, just an odd inquiry i have  :D
