check these per-game stats (bass is shooting better [fg] than pierce [45%], rondo [54%], and KG [52%])

Bass:
fgm/ fga   %
  6.1 / 11.1 55.1%

ray:
6.5 /  11.5   56.5%

who's most efficient scorer on the team? believe it or not:
stiesma

1.6  / 2.8  57.1 %

  • Rondo = Good
statistics are only worth the context you put them in, i suppose.

bass is shooting better than 2 of the big 3 and rondo as well.

bass is playing slightly less minutes than all of them, and is more efficient.

bass is attempting more shots than all except ray allen and pierce.

where's the context you speak of?

I think he means, sure Bass has similar numbers but Ray shoots from everywhere, Bass is sweet from about 15 in. Not really Ray-like except for numbers.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't think you can compare the 2 players at all except both are money from mid-range.

Big men usually shoot a better % than guards because they get a higher percentage of their points from dunks and shots in the paint.

Shaq's FG percentage was 66% last year...

If you want to see who's scoring more efficiently, look at TS%, or at least eFG%. Pierce takes a decent amount of three pointers and tends to get fouled a lot. More points per shot means more efficient scoring.

They're both good shooters, with Ray obviously having been the more elite one.  Bass fell back to earth last night, while Ray is still floating up in the atmosphere.

But it's early in the season and we can expect them both to revert toward their means as the year wears on.

"6'7" Larry Bird.  Guy's a stah!  Book it!" - How I once saw someone describe Jiri Welsch on the ESPN message boards.  It became funnier when someone used the same sentence to describe Marcus Banks.

He has a nice mid range jumper that much is certain.   He has had more good nights than bad ones with it.  I think he is a better fit for us than Big Baby though.

Exactly. An example of eFG:

Shaq is 3/5 with 2 pointers, his eFG is .600.

Ray Allen is 2/5 with 3 pointers, his eFG is .600.

Multiply shots attempted by their point value. This shows that Ray right now is off to an amazing start. Tops on the Celtics and the NBA

I think a lot of people saw it coming. He shot over 50% last year too and had similar totals in points and rebounding. There's a reason people were so happy about this trade.

imagine if we still had big baby shooting 31% like he is now....

we'd be 1-7 right now

Bass has really helped our anemic offense.
