Its extremely difficult to beat a really really good team twice in one year. Its one of the reasons that the Pats won their first SB and why they lost to NY. It also can be said its why NY beat Green Bay last week.

Its going to be very difficult odds wise for NY to beat NE twice this year given who good this Pats team is and also considering that Brady just laid an egg vs Baltimore. Expecting two bad games from Brady in a row in the playoffs is like expecting rain on a sunny day in the Sahara.

I'm expecting an excellent high scoring game. 38-34 Pats.

I hope you are right Nick, I am just not sure the Patriots are a really really good team.  I hope they are but who knows.  I know there defense isnt good, I just hope they are good enough!
Oh I think this Pats team is really really good. Their defense over the last 2 weeks has given up an average of just 320 total yards and 15 points per game in the playoffs. And they still have the most dynamic offenses in the league.

These teams are very similar. Great passing games. Excellent QBs. Great defensive lines(different but great). So so LBs. Defensive backfields that can be worked. The difference is I think the Pats offensive line is much better.  Whereas the Giants running backs are much better.

I'd love to buy into this way of thinking, but when I take account of each of the teams, noting their respective strengths and weaknesses, I'm hard pressed to find many areas where the Giants are not stronger than the Patriots.

Patriots have the edge at QB, but Eli is actually playing at least as well as Brady over the last month or so, all things considered.  Plus, you know the Pats defense will make Eli look like his brother Peyton in his prime.

It's hard to say whether Hernandez / Gronk / Welker are superior to Cruz / Nicks / Manningham.  I'd give the edge to the Patriots there, but Cruz is explosive and will likely rack up huge yards on the Pats.

The Giants defense is clearly better, and they have a stronger running game by a good margin.  They also have a better return game.  Punting and kicking probably goes to the Patriots, but it's not a substantial edge.

Coaching is hard to say.  Bill is great, but he's been outcoached in the playoffs in recent years by some really good coaches.  Coughlin knows what he's doing.

As I said...similar teams. Fairly close in most ways from coaching down. But I don't see Brady having two bad games in a row in the playoffs and I don't see the Giant LBs and safeties being able to contain Gronk and Hernandez. That I think will be the difference.

And I'm not buying the Giants defense being that much better than the Pats. The Pats gave up more yardage than the Giants this year but the Pats gave up 3.2 less points per game. And the Pats defense since the end of the first quarter against Buffalo in the last game has been playing very good, very tough physical defense.

I really respect this Giants team and I think this is a close game. But I think the Pats win in a close shootout.

I'm not sure I can put up with two weeks of anxiety here.  Plus the Boston-New York angle is at play again which always raises the stakes (tons of my college buddies are NY guys).

This game is a "pick 'em" as far as I'm concerned.  I'd be shocked if this thing doesn't go down to the wire in the 4th quarter or perhaps even become the first Super Bowl to go to OT.

Yeah.  I'm already cringing at the thought of Eli having the ball with one to two minutes left in regulation and only a touchdown or field goal needed to secure the win.

I think it will ultimately come down to who gets the ball last on a possession like that.

I'm also hoping I can find a place to watch the game that won't be swarmed with NY fans.  I watched the '07-'08 Superbowl in my freshman dormitory at BC, and there were more Giants fans there than Patriots fans (Boston College is swarmed with people from NY and LA).
