I doubt there will be any suspension for any of them. Just fines for Perk and LA, I don't really agree with him trying to pick a fight. But, Aldridge wouldn't have stand a chance with Perk if they fought. Kind of seems like frustration on Perk's part because they were losing.

If it were hockey it would.

As much as I enjoy offensive basketball, the wussification of the sport has been a detriment in my opinion.

I mean I dont want to go back to the late 90's Heat Knicks 78-72 games, but can't we find a balance between physicality and offense? Like the 80's?

Basketball is a physical sport and guys are going to get angry. There is not a real physical outlet to get frustrations out anymore. Even when a guy dunks on someone else, they cant even look at the player they just dunked on (John Wall...its not your fault...its not your fault) When these guys get mad at each other they look rediculous just staring and woofing.

I cant wait for Stern to be gone.

Wussification? In this particular case, it's called "being a punk" (by the way, it's kind of hard to side with Perkins on this one, he basically created a confrontation out of nothing).

Actually, basketball is not a physical sport. It was never supposed to, it's a game of skill. What made it physical was the obsession of casting US sports as being played by "tough guys". Wanna be a tough guy? Win the game. Want to fight? Boxing and mixed martial arts are waiting for you.

I have no issue with that.

Is it anything different then what KG does?

No punches thrown.  Just two big guys that have been battling for position all game continue after the whistle, just face to face.  Neither looking to back down.

Actually I think Aldridge would kick the crap out of Perk.  Perk like KG is all talk, when truly challenged they back down and wuss out.  Aldridge seems like the kind of guy that would straight up destroy a guy like Perk in a real fight.

I have to say, Perk has all but ruined the thunder for me.  They should be my favorite non-Celtics team, but it seems like he has turned up the fake toughguy/whining baby act to another level since getting there, and it really can be unbearable to watch at times.

I overlook it when he is wearing green, but on another team, it is just annoying, and takes away from the game for me.

Im not talking about fighting. Im talking about the outlawing of confrontation.

Im not talking specifically about Perk here but yeah they both look like punks and you know why? Because they have to revert to staredowns and shouting matches instead of a good hard foul to send a message. Im not talking about cheapshots either. Just a physical outlet for these guys. In an attempt to make the game more family friendly, Stern has managed to make the game less enjoyable in my opinion.

If a guy takes exception to how another guy is playing, this is what happens and these huge guys look rediculous and look like punks.

Maybe Dr. Naismith wanted guys shooting at peach baskets without making contact with each other but I dont care.

One of the most fascinating aspects of sports in confrontation and battles of physicality. Basketball at one time was a game that showcased both skill and physicality. Now the skills and fundamentals are watered down and the game is less physical.

Seriously, I really want to see changes in the game going forward. I think most casual fans would agree as well. Hockey is going to overtake basketball in popularity pretty soon.

I dunno. Aldridge was doing the same thing Bill Walker was vs KG, stand around and jaw and then act like they want to fight after 3-4 people step between them.

It looked to me like Aldridge was just standing there and Perkins got in his face for no apparent reason.

I do think this was a punk move to an extent, but oh well tempers flare, guys want to win, I'll take it over players collecting checks without caring about the outcome.

And how is basketball not a physical sport with how post play works?  That doesn't make any sense to me and it's very annoying when I hear people say there is no contact or physicality to basketball, there is plenty, even with how the game has been tamed down.  I think that was for the best, and now it's at a great place: physical but not overly so so that strength dominates the game.

The false tough guy thing is garbage.

Making faces at your opponent is garbage.

Talking a big game is garbage.

None of those antics win basketball games.  Score more points than the other team.  That's winning.

Want to be tough?  Get rebounds.  That's tough.

Post game (and defense) is supposed to be about footwork, not about trying to establish who can push harder. For Exhibit 1 see "Jefferson, Al Ricardo".
