Wilcox has only played sparingly so far but count me as underwhelmed. I'm sure he needs some time, but the thing that concerns me is his lack of enthusiasm or passion.  Just seems to be lazy. Doesn't look all that fit either.  I hope i'm wrong..

Anyone seen much of him on his previous teams?

I agree that he looks out of shape. And I think he looks a bit timid out there as well. I think he'll come around though, he just needs some playing time.

I think it's a given he will get time coming up as KG needs rest pretty often and JO gets injured about every other day.

well wilcox has never been anything but decent but I think he has been consistently decent in his career. If Steimsma has somehow actually blossomed into an NBA center who can be anything like he has been lately that would give us a quite good group of big bodies...there are only 48 minutes to go around at center and KG is going to get several of those in many games. JO, Steimsma and Wilcox is good enough otherwise. If you look at other rosters we actually have a good set of big guys

Here's a fun fact about Chris Wilcox, in his 9 year career before this only twice has he spent an entire season with a team that had more than 30 wins: the 37 win 2004-05 Clippers and the 31 win 2006-07 Sonics. The only winning team he was ever a part of, Clippers 2005-06, he was traded away from.

I wonder if he has ever developed the habits the players that are associated with winning basketball attain, like a proper attitude, playing through injuries, staying in top shape, being aggressive and motivated at all times, etc., etc.

It could be that Wilcox could bring very little to this team though I hope he just needs more time to get into shape and then play his ass off because he is finally going to be playing for a contending team.

I disagree with the lazy part; he's pretty active on the glass especially with offensive rebounds.  And that's been the case in recent years when we've played him on DET (or maybe it was just our poor rebounding make everyone look good).

Bottom line is he is a career journeyman center, so he's obviously lacking in skill, and you have to set your expectations reasonably.  I don't think it's a hustle issue.

I don't think he's used to playing on a team that plays the way the Celtics do.  That is, sharing the ball, competing every night, not giving up on any possession, etc.

At times he looks lost out there because he seems to expect his teammates to act differently than they do (e.g. when they pass him the ball inside instead of just shooting it).

He has been disappointing thus far.   I think he has some ability athletically.  I hope he turns it around.

I agree with POS POS  , he has talent , but reminds me of Jeff Green looking a bit lost and not understanding his role and the defense .
Right now if you are  7 foot warm body , the Celtics need ya !

Wilcox has effort and lenght, justy needs tons and tons of practice , experience , and encouragement

No one has mentioned it but for me, I'd feel easier about giving him some rope except that he is our mini-mid level signing. That was our only cap exception and this is what we got? I sure hope he comes around.

Can't say. It's 6 games into the season and he missed 3 and played 1 coming back from injury. I thought he looked okay before he was hurt. I'll get back to you in another 6-10 games.
