First, congrats to Bradley, but my guess is I think is more about the pecking order.  I guess its ABradley's turn...

I think it shows that doc values defense over all else and bradley is a very good defender. Since he's a good defender doc is willing to ride out his other shortcomings.

It tells me that we're old and he's not. He's a live body who can help keep guys fresh and hopefully contribute with his athleticism.

That's a good point Omar.

Bradley actually played pretty well last night and has been playing better and better. His man defense and his defensive rotations have been very good and getting better. Last night he ran the show in garbage time and was extremely good. He had a nice cross over, dribble drive and laid it down nice to Steimsma underneath.

Its one thing to have an opinion regarding Doc and his rotations and Bradley and his talent level, but at least watch what is happening with the players that Doc is using and see if you can see why he's doing what he's doing.

Dooling is looking more and more like he's having trouble running the offense and is looking more comfortable as the backup shooter rather than the backup ball handler. Rondo can't play 40-45 minutes every night and both Moore and Bradley are getting shots as the main ball handler in garbage time. Bradley over the last couple games has been better at it. His defense is catching Doc's eye as well as his positional knowledge and awareness of what his happening offensively.

Doc plays young players that play well, play defense and earn their time on the court. Steimsma is proof of that. For all the talk of "why is Doc using Bradley? Is he just being Doc with his pecking order" stuff, people forget he is playing the rookie Steimsma a lot. Why? Because the rook is earning his minutes and playing great ball.

Doesn't that kind of throw that whole logic right out the window?

I guess I can see why Bradley is in.  I mean, unless EMoore flat out beat him in practice, Doc has to go with Avery.

It tells me that our complete ten man rotation isnt healthy. So when Pietrus is finally able to go, Bradley will go to...Right to the bench where he belongs.

I think the comparison between Stiesma and Bradley is a good example...thanks for bringing it.  Stiesma is considered a rookie, while Bradley is a second year player.  Stiesma clearly belongs on the floor - on his rookie year I might add.  Heck, I would even go as far as saying, he(Stiesma) is not getting enough minutes.

...don't feel the same way when Avery goes in.  But congrats Avery!

No, Steimsma is proof that Doc only plays young players when he has no other choice.  If Wilcox is healthy, does Steimsma even get on the court?

It tells me that Doc is seeing things in practice that we are not seeing consistently on the court.  I think he is still a little nervous out there, afraid to make a mistake.  The last game last year was a garbage time game with NYK but Bradley was relaxed and tore it up.  I don't believe this is showcasing or politics or whatever.  I think Doc believes he can play and is trying to give him a chance to prove it.

Actually Doc did have a choice. For the amount of minutes that Steimsma is playing(about 15 per game) he could have simply split those minutes among Bass, KG, and O'Neal. Its not like any of them are playing huge minutes. But he didn't. He gave the minutes to Steimsma.

This is a really good post.  Logical, accurate, insightful.  What ever happened to the emotional hysteria and "throw da bum outta here" that rules the forum?   TP!  Enjoyed your commentary.

I think Danny and Doc are trying desperately to showcase the kid so that they can at least get something in return when they give him the boot.

Their showcasing him?

By playing him minimal minutes during real competitive NBA basketball and garbage time during the first through fifth games of the season?!?!?!?!

That makes zero sense. I'll believe the "Doc only plays rookies because vets are hurt" stuff before I give that even a tiny bit of credence.

imo it's the only logical explanation. There is absolutely no other reason he should ever see the floor
