Must admit I was VERY impressed... Especially how he played late in that game.

  • Rondo = Good
If Bynum keeps playing like this, the Lakers won't bother trading for Dwight.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't trade for Dwight, anyway, since they don't want to give up both Pau and Bynum and that's going to be the asking price, most likely.

Still, Bynum is a very good center; 2nd best in the league when he's healthy.  But I think he benefits a ton from the players he's got around him.  I'm not sure how successful he'd be if he were the focus of the opposing team's gameplan every night.  Also, he seems to be fairly inconsistent.  Plus there's the injury issues and the attitude . . . but yeah, he's real good.

In short, his debut game performance isn't all that surprising -- especially coming against the Nuggets, who don't exactly have a great defensive front-court.  I like Nene covering power forwards a lot more than true centers like Bynum.  Luckily for Nene, there are really only 2-3 players with Bynum's physical profile in the entire league (Bynum, Bogut, Howard, and to a lesser extent Brook Lopez).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Dominant against one of the weaker front courts in the league, a bit like J.O yesterday.

Saying that, he should have his best season under Mike Brown.

Orlando would be nuts if they traded DH to anywhere but LA though. I dont think you could pass up a talent like Bynum.

one game I'm not impressed. Drew like Rondo show flashes of brilliance. what separates superstar from all-star is consistency. lets see if he keep it up.

Big difference between the two players; Bynum's weakness is his health.  He hasn't had a healthy season in 5-6 years.  But he has all the tools to be best center in the league if he were healthly.  His incosistencies are due to being in and out of the lineup all the time and having to find his role again.  Rondo's incosistencies are due to flaws in his game.  Given Bynum's track record he probably never will be one of those 80-82 game a season types.  I think the Magic realize this and would be hesitant to trade for him.
