Is there any other candidate than Lamar Odom?

4 games, 4.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 13.3% shooting.  He played 11 minutes last night, as Rick Carlisle is cutting his floor time until he gets into shape, presumably mentally and physically.

Other candidates?

Jrue Holiday's passing numbers have been a real disappointment so far.

Just within the C's, I think the dropoff in KG's play is the biggest disappointment so far.

KG has got to be a candidate so far.  Now even JO has scored more in a game than he has, and besides his lack of offensive potency his defense is no longer the raging fire fueling the freight train, it has become a dimming camp fire we for folks to huddle around and tell ghost stories about the Ghost of KG past.  He is old, has put in a lot of minutes and its unfair to expect him to be an MVP candidate so late in his career, but he is the heart of the defense (especially with Perks departure) and in our 08 Banner year he (not rondo) facilitated a lot of the offense from the High/Low post.  He is still the highest paid player on the team and although that is not a fault of his it does open the door for heavy criticism when he plays All-Star minutes with Sixth Man production.  He has gone from 20-10-5 to 10-6-3.

Yeah, he's 4-for-30 on the season.  Terrible.

This is probably the concerning quote for Mavs' fans:

Quote
"Some things happen that took me away from the game; took some time off," Odom said. "You’ve got to be right mentally as a person first before you do any of this."

It's as much mental as physical.  Rick Carlisle isn't happy, either:

Quote
"We can’t unconditionally play him. That will hurt our team," Carlisle said. . . .

“He’s got to find his way within our team and within our offense, because we’re a free-flowing team,’’ Carlisle said. “We don’t do much play calling, so there’s going to be a curve there. “But look, that doesn’t affect how you run back and whether you can get in a stance or whether you block somebody out or get a rebound or any of that kind of stuff. So let’s get to that and then some of the other stuff can fall into place.’’

Odom's still a on a contending team and he's sulking *smh*. Maybe we can covet him so he can get back at his old team? :P

Odom just might replace Richard Jefferson as all-time underachiever. However, Odom just doesn't seem to care.

Steve Nash has looked pretty awful so far. Still making assists, but everything else seems to have fallen off a cliff.

Shane Battier ;D?
Given that he got the mini MLE :P
He has shot 0.100% from the floor while avg 1 ppg.
His 3 point pct is only 0.111...
I know that Offense really isnt a huge factor in his game but still lousy numbers when playing for a team like Miami (He should get alot of open shots because of the double teams on Wade etc.)
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Yeah, Nash looks pretty terrible so far this year, too.

  • Rondo = Good
John Wall

yeah, Wall has been pretty disappointing so far.  I think the lockout really cut into his development.  This should be a breakout year for him.

I think some older guys like Lamar, Nash, Battier, and hopefully KG and JO may just need a little while to get back into game shape and into the flow of the season.

A lot of these vets are used to using training camp and pre-season to get into game shape (which is different than work-out shape), and they haven't had that this year.  It's totally broken up their routine, and I'm sure that's hardest on the older players who thrive on their routine.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.
