I'm watching both the Pacers vs Cavs and the C's game now, And George is a big softy, he does not  play a lick of defense, and there is really no hustle or toughness with him whatsoever.
Ray on the other hand looks sharp, he's grabbing loose balls, he's playing very well he's a true pro,  love him or hate him.

Yesterday I suggested a trade based around Ray and Wilcox for Tyler And Paul don't call me Boy George, and everybody but one person said no way like it was a complete rip off in Boston's favor.

You could say it's a short sighted trade from the Pacers point of view. But no doubt in my mind the Pacers could make a real deep run this Year with Ray Allen. There gone in the second round this year IMO. And after seeing George play tonight I'm not so sure I trade Allen for him.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly compare the best shooter of all time to Paul George.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

Right, but if you're hypothetically trading Allen for George then you are comparing Allen for the next 2-3 years to George for the next ____. George's upside is unlimited.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

I'd rather have Ray for one more year than George for the next 4.

I apologize for making the claim that a a super athletic 6'10 SF that was the 10th pick in the draft last year and a very solid backup big man might just have more trade value than a 36-year-old SG with a bloated contract that has become mostly a spot-up shooter.

Come on now...of course I'd take Ray Allen if he were younger but he's not.

If Paul George was a Celtic, playing a sixth man role off the bench, would you trade him for a 36-year-old center on an expiring contract if you thought that would enable the Celtics to make a deep playoff run?

I would be distraught.

Only if we could package him with a 1st rounder.

You mean like trading away Joe Johnson for journeymen Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk?

Pretty silly question.

I said at the time I'd love that trade for the Celts and I still do now and still don't think the Pacers would do it by a long shot

Who would be getting the best player in a Allen, Tyler and George were moved. Who would be getting the best player right now in that trade. The Answer is Allen.

It's also a team that could use another veteran badly. David West is not exactly a role model. I think they could make a run to the Finals this year with Allen.

I'd like to invite everyone to think about the Ray Allen trade 4 years ago. Before we knew KG was coming, everyone was freaking out that we traded the 5th pick in the draft and Delonte freaking West for him because he was about to turn 32. Now add 4 years to that total and replace Randy Foye and Delonte West with Paul George and Tyler Hansbrough and think about how Indiana would feel about this trade.

Yeah, but as alluded to a couple times above, it's a pretty clear parallel to our own Joe Johnson for Rodney Rogers trade.

There, we traded a young bench player with potential for an older vet on an expiring contract, in hopes that we'd reach the Finals.  We added a #1 pick; here, Indiana would be asked to give up Hansbrough.

How'd that trade work out for us?  Why would Indiana assume that it would work out for them?  I absolutely agree that Ray is the best player in the deal, but it's just very, very poor management to trade good young pieces for an expiring veteran when you're in Indiana's situation.

15 years of service vs. 1 year of service.
