Per Gary Washburn, who is quoting Danny Ainge :

Quote
#Celtics GM Danny Ainge tells the Globe that Mickael Pietrus likely to make debut by mid-January. About two weeks away

Based on Danny's track record, hope he is ready for the playoffs --  ;D

sounds about right, Doc said he needs about 10days to strengthen his knee and they are being cautious with him. that would put him in mid january

This was my first thought too.  I would love to hear the whole quote from Danny.  I can almost guarantee there are some major qualifyers in there that were left out.

I wish he would be the sudden difference we need right now. Our problems seem deeper.  >:(

look, i get that danny didnt have the best track record with injuries for shaq/kg

but, all evidence is they are being cautious with peitrus. they know his Knee swelled up about 2 weeks ago when he practiced for the raptors when that trade was denied. and he is someone we need for the long haul with green out.. so im not too leery

last thing we need is to rush him back and have his knee act up and miss more games

Don't forget, Danny also said that Green's issue was minor and not something of major concern.

well, originally thats what they thought that it was probably nothing. but further tests obviously confirmed it was something major.

for all we bash danny for getting injuries wrong, he said Perkins would return mid january...and he did just on time

and he said Delonte west would be out 3months..and he came back..just on time.

he said kg would be out 2-3 weeks with the strained calf last year...and KG came back just on time..

i wont be surprised at all if/when pietrus comes back within the next 2 weeks..but fans will never remember the injuries they got right

i dont believe a word danny or doc says when talking about injury return dates.  i would prefer they wouldnt give a timeframe at all.  just say, he needs to continue to rehab and get better.  once he is healthy, he will be back.....and leave it at that.

What's that another 7-10 games?  If we can get 50 games from a healthy Pietrus, I'll be happy.

We've gone so long without a quality shooter/defender wing off the bench that we can wait a little longer.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I'll believe it when I see it.

He had the best medical staff in the NBA working on him and they couldn't even trade him because he couldn't pass a physical so they just cut him.

His knee is jacked
