Rondo is officially in his prime & both Pierce and Allen have a lot left in the tank.

Now is the time to swing KG's expiring contract for something of value.

Let's be real, his decade plus of trash talk is free agent kryptonite.  Even if he re-signs next year for the vet min, that extra cap space isn't enticing anyone to come teamup with the hated power forward.  Just ask David West.

With the way Rondo is taking over games, all we need is some shot blocking and toughness in the paint and we'll be able to again compete w/ Miami.

KG, love the guy, but he's not blocking shots, not taking charges, not finishing at the rim and struggles to create from the post.  Only his long-range jumper is true, and that's not worth 20m a year.

how bout?
KG and Steimsma

for

Javelle McGee & Shard Lewis

We'd get the defense we need to compete again & Washington would get out from under Lewis' horrible contract, a cheap big & gain the off-season cap space to try and pair DHoward with John Wall.

Now take aim and fire   ;)

what makes you think anyone will take KG's $22 mill contract?

Can you amnesty an acquired contract?

I think the only pipe dream we have is that Atlanta totally falls apart and looks to dump Joe JOhnson's contract... maybe if we give them KG's expiring, Ray's expiring and every draft pick we have... they MIGHT give us Joe Johnson and Josh Smith and we'll have a nice little 45 win team heading into the future.

with DH hitting free agency, would rather have

KG's expring $22M contract
or
Rashard Lewis for $40M over the next 2 years?

It's an expiring contract... that means we might be able to get something like... Okafor's bad contract and Trevor Ariza for KG if we include draft picks.

If someone want to offer a deal Ainge can't turn down, sure.

But with his contract, not going to happen.  The Celtics would most likely have to take back contracts they do not want.

Ok...maybe you could make an argument (I can't) that 2yrs and $40M with a washed up Lewis (32years old) works for a 35 year old KG on the steep downside at $21M.  No way can you make the argument that Washington gives up McGee for Steimsma.  No comparison....

My God the trades I see on this board ...

First off, before I even get to this crap.  David West is not a Celtic because the Chris Paul trade fell through, and Dallas ended up using their TE to acquire Lamar Odom after the fallout - rather than using it to get JO after N'awlins spins them JO.  You just stated as fact that free agents won't sign here because of KG, (who's been our biggest recruiting tool for coveted free agents - Cassell, Sheed), and then used David West not being able to sign here beause we could never follow through on an SnT as an example for this.  The best part was when you said "just ask David West."  I actually laughed.  Because something tells me you don't know David West.

And anyways, LOL @ your trade. Ok, so you want to take on Rashard Lewis who's owed just under fifty freakin million dollars for the next two years, so you can get Javale Mcgee.  Ok, and you do know that McGee is gonna get a new deal - and will probably command 15 millionish himself.  So tie that with Rashards (and since Rashard is basically nothing more than a trophy), that means that youre basically gonna trade all of this teams cap space, and then some, so you can get Javale Mcgee (who's averages were 10 and 8 last year) and pay him 37M a season.  Basically blowing the whole salary cap on Javale Mcgee, and only being able to improve your team on mid round picks and mid level signings.

Isiah Thomas would be proud of you.

I would not be surprised if they made such a move.  I would expect to see them move out both starting big men before long.

Here are the type of pipe dreams I could see getting at the trade deadline for KG's expiring contract IF the other team got desperate to unload salary and free up cap space in 2012:

KG's 22 mil expiring and draft picks to:

Charlotte:
Ty Thomas - 7-9 mil for the next 4 years
+ Corey Maggette - 10 mil for the next 2 years

Hornets:
Okafor - 12-14 mil for next 3 years
+ Ariza - 7-8 mil for next 3 years

Atlanta:
Joe Johnson - 18-25 mil for next 5 years (probably unlikely)

Dallas:
Brendan Haywood - 7-10 mil for next 4 years
+ Shawn Marion - 8-9 mil for next 3 years

Detroit:
Ben Gordon - 11-13 mil next 3 years
+ Charlie V - 7.5-8.5 for next 3 years

Bucks (MAJOR pipe dream)
Bogut - 12-14 mil for 3 years
+ Gooden - 6.6 mil for next 4 years

Philly
Elton Brand - 17-18 mil for 2 years

Washington
Rashard Lewis - 22-23 mil for 2 years
+ A young player they are willing to throw away

This would be the type of trade Ainge would except.

Some younger potential pieces that are not long term contracts.

If and only if the team does not turn it around.  (which I expect them to do)

Why would Utah look to dump the salary of both Jefferson and Millsip for absolutely nothing?  I considered putting Jefferson on my list until I realized it would be kinda nuts for them to dump them for nothing.

I guess we're saying that they'd just want to give Favors tons of minutes and have little salary obligation?  ...

If that's possibly why even involve a 3rd team?

MASSIVE PIPE DREAM:

KG's 22 mil expiring to Utah for:
Al Jefferson - 14-15 mil for 2 years
Paul Millsap - 7 mil for 2 years

(Millsap is the deal-breaker there... way too much value for a guy who makes that little.  More likely would be KG's expiring for Jefferson and Devin Harris (9 mil 2 years)... we'd have to give up multiple first rounders)

Hahaha the Jazz get screwed here, they just got all the young pieces they want so why would they want two washed up guys with awful contracts?  And I couldn't see KG starting over Favors and Battie over Kanter either.
