I agree with Mannix about JO. I like JO a lot, but he's doing nothing for this team at the center spot. He's been useless and I don't understand because he played great in last season's playoffs.

JO and KG don't mesh will in the front court. KG needs a center play like Perkins or Shaq to play aside him. I wouldn't be surprise if JO gets shipped before March.

I don't think Steisma is that guy either. I think he will be just a solid big to come off the bench. Guys like Perkins are very hard find and if available very hard to obtain.

Overreaction. its the first three games after a extra long layoff. we are in the same boat as the lakers, mavericks and the suns. Lets give it some time before completly writing him off.

remember how terrible sheed looked at times during the season only to have a good showing in the playoffs.

He is pretty useless. I was hoping we would get rid of him with that West deal that fell through.

Way too early.

Let's take another snapshot of JO in about 10-15 games.

I think it's unfair to place blame on just one position.

Even with KG - watching him play, I wouldn't be surprised if HE is holding himself back. No way KG (or JO) are playing up to their potential, yet.

This season will be brutal.

But yeah give JO a few more games.

Can we still amnesty JO--he has nothing left in the tank.

Haha.

Tell you what - have the courage to praise JO once he has a good game.

For me, I've never slammed a Celtics player this early - especially with the constraints this season will place on our team.

The rookie Norris made most of our team look bad just the other night in MIA.

I'm not concerned with JO's play.

I generally agree but when the problem is lack of effort it is hard to be patient.  JO just watches too much going on right in his reach--please try a little.

You make a point, but when MIA's rookie PG chews us up like he did a few nights ago, I went to bed wondering "Why couldn't Rondo stop this guy - at least once?"

For JO, I cannot single him out just yet - just like I can't pin-point any other player yet.

KG has looked 45 instead of 35 at times. Yes - he is producing, but he at times hasn't seemed to put max effort out there.

Like I stated earlier, but will expound upon: I think Celtics fans are in for a brutal season. I still see the team making the playoffs and winning a good amount of games, but there is no way to expect our old legs to put it out there night in and night out.

To Boston's credit - they DID put max effort out vs NY and MIA for the most part. Both were losses, minus Pierce and Pietrus.

If we had won those two games, would we be singling out JO?

Unfortunately, some here probably would.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I think Mannix is spot on here. We are good, but we won't go far with JO as our starting center. Our hope is to use JO's expiring contract along with a combination of Bass/Wilcox/Bradley/picks/Johnson/Moore/Pavlovic to land a competent starting center. The two that come to mind who might be available for that kind of package are Kaman and Jefferson. If we can get one of those guys and have our core healthy, we'll be a tough out in the playoffs IMO.
It'd probably take JO with Bass and JJJ/1st rounder to get either Kaman or Jefferson.  by the time the trading deadline comes around, the C's may be so far out of it that we may just hold on to him to get the cap space next year.  I wouldn't want to acquire Big Al or Kaman at the expense of cap flexibility.

Kaman is expiring, he wouldn't hurt our cap flexibility at all.
