LOL. Everyone posting Doc's funny fun at the same time.

great minds  ;)

Nice to have a win, huh.

I said it in the "rah rah positive" thread. I think they are 10-5 by the time the 15th game is over. Once they get there proper wind going, get everyone going and get the rotations running, this will be a dangerous team that will be able to play all 12 guys without missing too much.

I believe so, too. What I'm worried about is that the first half of the season is the easy part for the Celtics and they got to make full use of it ie stack as many wins as possible. March is brutal.

Pierce makes this team soooooo much better. 8)

Yes he does and Pietrus, if he is not shot ( knees) will help alot too.  Our confidence and everything was better.

I still think Doc should have put in the kids a lot sooner than what he did.  I thought we should have let the starters rest and keep the second unit in and use a few rooks at the end.  All this talk of minute management sometimes is a joke in all honesty.

JO ended up with a nice game and I hate to be a Debbie downer but this an awful Detroit team. JO when faced against a good defensive team or athletic bigs Heat/Miami etc he disappears and just doesn't have the mobility or lift to be effective be it blocking shots or offense.

Pierce helps but the Center position is still a big problem.

Ben Gordon with three very nice passes leading to baskets to start of the game for Detroit.

A nice bounce pass entry pass into the post when Monroe had great position on JO in the middle of the paint. A pick and roll, hits a rolling Monroe for the layup as Boston is caught lax defensively. Then a nice pass to a cutting Jerebko for a layup.

I'm guessing this doesn't last as the game goes on. Out of character for B.Gordon.

Greg Monroe seems to be getting a lot of joy against Stiemsma here in the second quarter. Doc wisely pulls Stiemsma and puts back in Jermaine O'Neal.

6 points in about 90 seconds for Monroe there.

None of the starters played over 30 minutes with Pierce only playing 23 and Garnett 26. The five main bench players all had between 14 and 22 minutes played. When the kids went in the lead was 20 and they ended up losing by 11 mostly because the four kids and Sasha are a putrid offensive team.

I think Doc did a masterful job of using all of his players last night.

I think he should have sent the starters to the bench the whole fourth.  The second unit was doing fine and it was they who had us up by 20.  KG and those guys actually let it slip to 16-18 points as I recall.

Monroe went at Stiesmsa and when you go straight at a shot blocker they can't block as many shots because they are going backwards.  It is one thing to block shots on help defense there the blocker is the aggressor.   It is a another thing to when a guy comes right at you.  They become the aggressor.

The lead peaked at 25 with Jermaine and Ray out there with Bass, Dooling, and Marquis. It was at that point that Doc put in Stiemsma and Sasha for a full 5 man bench unit. This was with 1:36 left in the third quarter.

It was back down to 18 when KG/Ray re-entered the game with 7:48 left in the fourth. The full 5 man bench unit had lost 7 points in about 5 minutes, so no they really weren't maintaining the lead all that well, though it wasn't a disaster.

The other thing to consider is that this team is still developing its rotations, you don't want to necessarily over extend bench guys just yet. Besides no one played over 29 minutes so the starters weren't run into the ground.

I'd expect less than 29 on many nights for Jermaine honestly, but he had it going and had been limited by fouls the last three games. It was good to get him extended run where he was a factor.
