We are last in points allowed, 110.0 a game

We are last in the East.

When have we ever given up 110.0 a game?

Miami scored 69 points in the first half tonight. We have not given up that many in a half since 2005.

In 2005 we finished 45 and 37 and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Not liking what I am seeing.

  • Rondo = Good
We faced two very good offensive teams in a row who each happen to have one of the top 3 small forwards in the game, and we were starting Sasha freaking Pavlovic in place of Paul Pierce and backing him up with a slender SG/SF.

I'm confident the defensive numbers will go back to what we expected.

That said, I'm not sure this team will be as good defensively as it has been in the past.  Not too many great defenders on the bench, the Big 3 are a year older and a bit slower (especially KG), and JO is basically cooked from what we've seen so far.  We desperately need a (healthy, athletic, strong) defensive center down low.

Scary but misleading statistics.

There are still teams like the Cavs that we will play.

Perfect the zone ??

Don't laugh we nearly squeaked out a win against the media crowned champions and most athletic guys in the world

In response to the OP not worried at all if those numbers are the same after 10-15 games then we have a problem. It is nearly the preseason still by normal schedule give us some time.

With PP it is quite feasible that we would have won both of these games.   No one has to expend energy guarding Sasha and Marquis isn't as big as a threat as PP.   PP would both defend and score better than either of these guys taking away energy from the other team.

its a long season, we'll right the ship. especially after Paul Pierce comes back...look how horrible the Mavs have looked these early games. And I think theyll right the ship as well

I think the shortened offseason is hurting the older teams who may need some extra time to get those legs warmed up for the regular season

I'm not in panic or anything, I won't judge the team until they've at least played a dozen and Paul Pierce is playing again...

but it has to be said:

We look JUST AWFUL

I mean awful to the point where it's going to be a struggle to even make the playoffs awful.

New Orleans made us look like a high school team:
- Our defense is lazy
- Daniels is bad so far
- KG looks done
- JO is just... no comment. Possibly the worst acquisition in recent memory for the Celtics
- Rondo obviously tired
- Our offense is laughable and predictable, it's like watching me play basketball

Like I said no panic yet, but boy are those red flags running high.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

With this condensed season and the lack of strong contributors on the bench, you can basically chalk up 20+ losses without even looking at the matchups.

I don't know if playing KG 5 min. then resting him 5 min. is the way to go.

How can any player play like that?

If you want to give KG more rest then just rest him longer on the bench and use your timeouts better.

You can't get anything done in 5 min. stretches unless the offense is focused on you.

The C's don't play that kind of offense and if people aren't clicking then the entire offense is out of whack.

We need a few weeks of practice. This team was just as awful for stretched the last 2 years when they didn't get to practice enough, and [dang], they sure look like they haven't practiced much right now. Heck, they look like they don't even know each other, which is sad considering the starters minus Pierce have been together a while.
