This zone Doc has pulled out is a excellent way to slow down & beat Miami. When Paul gets back & privides the punch we need offensively & his length & short space defensive capabilities will really allow us to control the Heat & beat them in a series. Rondo Pierce Pietrus & Garnett will really flourish with this scheme. I just got really excited by a loss! And Norris Coooole (in my Stephen A. Smith voice) won't continue to stay red hot & make every critical shot there is.

technically, Dallas found it in the finals. surprised Doc didnt go to it earlier...we just cant play man against them.

if we can commit to zone defense and spread the floor with our 3 point shooters I think we have a good chance of controlling them. Dallas used the same strategy in the finals

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Except we lost, so apparently it didn't work.

I don't think the zone defense will be the weakness of the Heat for long.

we lost because we had marquis daniels letting lebron do whatever  pleased

paul pierce completes this team, and pietrus compliments the bench....

this was a hard fought game without our captain in it. imagine if pierce was containing lebron....

The ref would have given him 5 fouls like in the elimination game last year. Or ejecting him. Either works.

idk, lebron/wade arent exactly the best jumpshooters/at initiating an offense.

their game is playing man/iso and getting on the fastbreak. When you keep them on the perimieter you slow down their strengths.

It was their weakness last year, and I see it beign their weakness this year as well...what happened to the heat offense once we switched to zone was the same that happened in the finals when dallas switched to it

not every team is going to be able to do it effectively against them, but the Celtics have the personnel to do it IMO

and whoever said "we still lost" yess we did. but the switch to zone was the only reason we were still in this at the end

I second this! 2nite's loss is something to gain from. Doc will definitely be using more zone.  ;D Its actually better for an older team since they have a hard time trying to defend 1 on 1. I love the Zone D!

doc went zone because dooling and bass was out there. it worked great though slowed down their speed.. too bad norris cole beat us at the end there.

i can see him run this again if we have machup problems like we did tonight. we had 3 guards out there that can run n kg really locked up that middle

Norris Cole is definitely a baller though.  Great rookie pickup for Miami who is ready to contribute immediately

I feel the same way.

Dallas also played zone all season, not just against the Heat. They were beating lots of team with zones from the first week. It may have been more the strength of the Mavs zone than the Heat's weakness against zone.

I do like the ability to mix schemes up though.

While I think it will ultimately help out in the future, I certainly would hesitate to say that we found the key to beating Miami. This team is just at another level athletically. They can be beaten, but I wouldn't be comfortable in any game against them.
