Omri for Hickson was a good move on paper but now they don't just have young players, they have young, immature players without experience (Hickson and Cousins) with a lot of talent.

They are fun to watch and play some defense now too

I like DMC and all, but I'm not sold on that team.  Too many guys who look for their own shot and not enough shot creators.  I think they'll be a lot like the Memphis Grizzlies were for the past few years until they can mature a little and build on defense and ball movement.

Dunno about not having creators; Fredette looked quite alright, could see him become relevant.

They shot 9-18 on three pointers, which is rather high. If those don't fall, they lose to the Lakers, especially once Bynum is back. Mainly because they *already* had issues with their inside presence. Any team with a good center & backup center, or forwards with decent post-up skills should be able to take them on easily.

.edit: that said, it's a fun team to watch alright. Just finished watching the game, was good fun.

On a side note, the new alternate they have is pretty cool.

What are other up and coming teams? I mean apart from the obvious Bulls and Thunder.

I imagine the Kings will probably end up being like the Hawks. A lot of potential players but they just won't get it together for one reason or another.

How about the Warriors? They had spurts against the Clips yesterday where they played pretty good defense. I'm surprised that Mark Jackson actually managed. The Nets might have something going on as well.

The west is going to be ridiculous this year. No idea how the seeds will play out at all. Good luck to the kings. Glad the lakers are winless.

by creators i mean guys who can create easy shots for others, not guys who can create their own shot.  they have plenty of those, but i don't know who is going to create easy looks for teammates on that team.  evans, jimmer, thornton, salmons, cousins . . . all chuckers.

Yeah, I like the Warriors a good bit. They have a lot of yougn guards besides the obvious Curry and Ellis combo. They also have Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson, who Mark Jackson Loves. That and a pretty solid frontcourt. They drafted Jeremy Tyler as well who could maybe, i mean maybe, be good someday.

The Timberwolves SHOULD be good with all that crazy young talent. Almost every name on their starting five has some reputation one way or another, they just need to put it together as a team.

Right, Kobe. Of course you care, you hate losing.

They looked a bit flimsy in their first game, second game I didn't see. A bit like a house of cards; pretty neat if it stays up, but just as likely to crumble when you lean on it.

lol...more Laker pain.

I love it ;D.

But seriously I expect LA to right the ship soon, especially once Bynum gets back.

Kobe needs to rest that wrist and stop being Superman. He's not 25 anymore.

Sacramento? I watched the last qtr of the game and I must say Demarcus Cousins is growing up. He made some nice hustle plays down the stretch, such as diving for looseballs, getting key rebounds.

He is a physical center, too...he was really making Pau work. At 6'11 and 280? He is a load.

I think he will start to make a nice name for himself this year as he further matures. He needs to stay out of foul trouble, though.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Tyreke and Fredette are complete ball hogs.
Thorton looked great, Hayes was a beast as usual.
I really liked Cousins' hustle- he will get better as he matures but he doesn't have the best Bball IQ.

They played well but settled for way too many jumpshots and they have almost zero presence inside so when their shooting his off they will struggle.
Might make the playoffs in a shortened season and those young legs.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Indiana and Philly in the East should both be pretty solid teams for the next 5 or 6 years and each could challenge the elite teams if things go their way (and the young guys continue to develop).

A team to watch that is a few years out is Cleveland.  That team is incredibly young, but Irving and Thompson look like they could be really good add them to Varejao, Sessions, Casppi, Gee, and Gibson who are all still in their 20's (actually aside from Side Show are all 25 or younger) plus a high first round pick (which they will get this summer - they could also get the Kings pick if it isn't in the lottery) and I think they could make some noise a few seasons down the road.  But that is just speculation on my part.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
