Rubio is a superior passer and reads the offense much better than Rondo, at least to this point. We'll have to see if the trends continues, but so far very impressed on how he runs an offense. He just has a knack for ball speed and ball positioning, simply accurate passes which has been my main beef with Rondo's passing game.

And he doesn't turn the ball over.

Rondo's the best passer in the game.  I guess, based on this one game, Rondo has now been relegated to second best passer in the NBA.

Wow!! Rubio really must be good.

Other than I've never felt Rondo was the best passer in the game. Never liked his passing ability, it has been a constant complaint of mine that his passes are often inaccurate. What he does well is find open people, which is not the same as putting the ball in the right spot. It's often that he's sloppy with his passes, it's often that he makes passes harder than it should be, faster than it should be, etc.

No.  He makes passes with frequency that no one else can make, and he delivers them perfectly.  Your evaluation of his passing ability is shockingly off target.

Yes, Rondo is an infallible god.

Far from it, but passing ability is not his weakness.

Never said it was. Said I never thought he was the best in the game. Said that what's holding him back it's his passing accuracy. Nothing more, nothing less.

Rubio was pretty great today. It seems like almost every pass made the crowd go "OHHHH." In my opinion, best passers in the NBA - Rondo, Nash, Paul. Rubio will probably be up there pretty soon.

Fair enough.  I'm not saying Rondo's an infallible god, just saying that you are wrong about his passing accuracy.

Jimmer is another PG who will prove a lot of doubters wrong this year, I think. Looks really good against LA right now.

I hope it's something that it's fixed this season, but watch for low/fast bounce passes, and when he misses Ray on the letters for what it would be a in rhythm 3, which is then wasted because the pass wasn't on the right spot letting defense recover. As well as the lazy lobs he has a bad habit of doing. Things of that nature.

Rondo had a beautifully threaded bounce pass for Marquis Daniels on the break in last night's game.  This is just one example of Rajon's ability to make the bounce pass.  Of course, occasionally he throws one that doesn't sit up like it should, as I said he's not an infallible god.

I guess we see what we want to see.  If you are looking for bad passes from Rondo, you'll see some.  He's not immune to making mistakes, but much more often than not--and more often than other point guards in the league--he makes the right pass and places it perfectly.

I guess maybe Nash and Paul can be placed in his category as passers, but that's it.  I do find it possible from what I've seen of Rubio that he will be added to that list of elite passers before long.

I do find it a little hasty for you to place him above Rondo as a passer based on his very first game in the NBA, however.

Wait a second, there a people alive who actually think that Rondo is a better pure passer than Steve Nash and Jason Kidd?  Really?  Wow.

Seems like everything here is seen through green-colored glasses.  Neither Rondo or Rubio is the best passer in the NBA.  Nor Chris Paul.

Nash and Kidd at their advanced ages have many, many weaknesses.  But both throw nearly every pass on time and on target.  Has anyone here not seen Jason Kidd pass the basketball?  He has the ball less now because he is slower and even less of a threat to score than he ever was, not because he is a lesser passer.  Nash and Kidd have the same accuracy and court vision.

Those two are very good passers, as well.  I did include Nash on my list but forgot to mention Kidd.

I have much respect for those guys but was thinking more of the point guards who are going to be battling each other for the next decade.

I am not surprised.  People discounted him because he didn't light it up in Europe, but I don't know if those people really understand the European game.  The PG is not allowed to dominate the ball how they do here and the defense is allowed to be MUCH more physical.

He is a great passer, especially on the bounce (a lost art, he reminds me of Rondo in that way).

I also liked Williams running the floor with him.  Minny suddenly has some very nice young pieces.

About Rondo's passing accuracy, give me a break people.  The guy throws 40 ft bounce passes left handed on the numbers.  He is an outstanding passer and is very accurate.  Please.  That's not Green glasses that's watching the kid play and not trying to cut him down like so many do.

That's the problem, you see a few highlights and you say "look at what this kid can do", the problem is, is it consistent? It's not an ability problem, but a focus/habit problem, which is my main beef really. As is my problem with Rondo often, it's a misuse of his skills and talent. That he still comes off looking great just tells me how much more he can be. And we've seen glimpses of it often, particularly in some playoff series.

When I think Rondo's at his best passing, I go back to that 3-pointer from Ray Allen against the Bulls. It was a thing of beauty, perfect timing, on the letters, and let Ray shoot in complete rhythm. It's what I want to see from Rondo more often.

Yeah, the kid can play.... Let us see how he does when he gets scouted and is forced to play some bad games in a row. He seems to have good court vision though.
