I believe his minor, day-to-day industry is now on week 3. so he is at about 15 or so days-to-day right now.

If we learned something from Shaq and KG's injury earlier this year, don't believe whatever Doctor Danny Ainge says!

He should have probably rushed back as soon as possible, even if he risked further injury, in order to meet whatever the original estimate was for his return.

its a bone bruise on his heel. if you look it up online, it can take anywhere from a few days to a month...the only thing that cures it is rest. if you further reinjure it, it can be very difficult to treat longterm.

its better they let him rest now until hes 100% than let him risk reinjuring it

I expect pro athletes to heal faster than me.  If I snap an ankle requiring surgery and I'm back running in 6 weeks then a day to day injury shouldn't take longer. If it does then you're frail and should probably be traded to the Portland Trailblazers.

Yes, please let him heal from this rather than rush him back.  When Paul Pierce comes back, I want him fully healthy.

I'm worried that this could be like Rondo's foot problems last year which I suspect that he never fully recovered from during the season.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I had a bone bruise on my heel when i was 20 years old.  i landed hard on my right heel jumping down from a bunk bed and got a pretty serious bone bruise.  It hurt to walk on for 3 months, and was fine after that.  i actually found some crutches to use for 3 weeks because i looked ridiculous limping around.  I don't care how "tough"  some one is, it is very painful and the heel needs time to heal.

they probly list him day to day because a bone bruise is not as serious as some other injuries are, but a bone bruise can take months to heal, so be patient.  Playing basketball on top of a bone bruise is NOT a good thing lol.

Im not worried.  Pierce heel should heal in a couple months, and he will be like new after.   In the mean time, marquis and eventually pietrus will pick up the slack, and pavlovic too.  I think marquis should start though, i don't agree with doc's reasoning behind the pavlovic start.  Go cs.

Yeah, the guy who played an entire 82 game season that started about a month after he was stabbed multiple times is frail compared to you.

You are all missing the point. Once again, the Celtics minimize an injury/illness -- Jeff Green, Garnett, Shaq, now Pierce -- so we should never believe anything they say about injuries. This has nothing to do with the toughness of Pierce, but the continuous deception of the Celtics and Danny who seems to enjoy playing the fans for fools. Initially he was going to miss a practice or two and then maybe the first exhibition game. I don't want him to rush back. I have also had a heel bruise and it took like a month before I could get back to doing anything.

TP.

Our big four all have hearts of champions. I don't think anyone else in the league will go/has gone as far as our big four has gone to win.

Plus they're really cool guys off the court :)

I hate this kind of injury for this exact reason.  No one knows when it will heal, so you really cant make plans based on it.  And the worst part is that if he plays too early, it could just set him back even further.

I really wish they would just quit the day to day stuff, and shut him down for another 2 weeks or something, and just let everyone get comfortable.

True, he has never had a big problem before. I think my real problem is with the Celtics "medical" staff.

To me there are maybe 4 or 5 medical NBA situations I find baffling.

Grant Hill's ankle that took like 4 years to heal, and now as the 3rd oldest player in the league he plays 82 games.

Greg Oden walking down the street or playing hopscotch and having to sit out the year pretty much every year in his young 20s after an injury free freshman year at Ohio State

Zydrunas Ilgauskas taking like 5 years to heal sore feet and then having a great long career

Pretty much everything that has happened to the Celtics in the last 3 years

I think you are having a selective memory.  The C's have not had very bad luck with injuries the last few years.  The big 3 have been amazingly healthy given the amount of miles on them.

I just think the C's have had to rely on a few guys that have injury histories/questions over the last few years, because of their lack of assets to get top quality players that did not have question marks.
