Typical Suns let the lead evaporate right before the half  ::)

I hate Kobe but you gotta respect at his age his willingness to attack the basket, something you know I wish the captain would do.

PG - Jeremy Lin, Baron Davis, Toney Douglas (and Mike Bibby)
SG - Landry Fields, JR Smith, Iman Shumpert
SF - Carmelo Anthony, JR Smith (and Bill Walker)
PF - Amare Stoudemire, Jared Jeffries, Steve Novak
C  - Tyson Chandler, Josh Harrellson (and Jerome Jordan)

Question: Are the Knicks the fourth best team in the East?

Given the unexpected good play from Jeremy Lin, the soon to return from injury Baron Davis and the recent signing of JR Smith ... have the Knicks moved ahead of rivals Atlanta, Indiana, Boston and Orlando?

I think so. Unless Linsanity really is a flash in the pan (which seems unlikely) or Melo really does destroy the D'antoni offense I think you have to put them in the top 3-4.

The Knicks suddenly have:
2 Reliable PGs
5 Good-Great wings(Bill Walker is a GREAT 6th best wing player)
Novak coming out of nowhere to become a consistant deep threat
Jared Jeffries being a servicable rotation player

The Knicks starting 5 is among the top 3 in the league from a talent perspective and now they not only have a compotent bench, they have a GREAT bench. This is not a team I want to play in a playoff series regardless of how poor their defensive philosophy may be...:)

EDIT: Let me tone it down a bit...their bench isn't "GREAT" they're pretty thin up front. Still, dangerous team.

Not convinced.  I think Lin's in a similar situation to Flip Murray in 03/04.  Ray Allen was out for awhile that year and Murray came and set the world on fire for about a month.  Once Ray came back, however, Murray devolved into a garden variety bench scorer with his minutes and usage cut.

Once Melo gets back, I think Lin loses the reins, and his weaknesses as a complementary player (weak 3-point shooter, turnover-prone) will rear their head and he won't be ball-dominant enough to have his positive attributes (slashing, facilitating) outweigh them.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I am thinking Lin should be able to play at a level similar to Greivis Vasquez ... where do you think that puts them?

Ceiling isn't any higher than the Celtics, in my opinion -- best case scenario is a 2nd round exit.

JR Smith looks good early on for the Knicks.

He's an enormous upgrade over Billy Walkah.

You know, I'm really happy the Knicks have sucked for the past 15 years or so.

I don't feel weird kinda liking them now, even though they're a NY team.

Vince Carter not being able to beat Steve Novak off the dribble is a little depressing.
