That was possibly the most unentertaining 3OT game I've ever seen.  Just terrible.  The Heat didn't win the game... the Hawks lost it.

the Hawks are a really unpleasant team to watch.  no semblance of an offensive system at all.

The weirdest part was their best lineup last night (because Teague was just awful) was Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith, Isasc Johnson, Al Horford. What a weird lineup...usually a basketball team has some sense of diversity of body type on the court, but with that lineup it just looks like a bunch of thin guys vaguely 6-7 to 6-11 running around. They certainly made it a habit of drafting versatile 6-8 players for many years.

yeah, it's like they've been trying to find a LeBron / Blake Griffin type for years and they've just gotten a bunch of athletic swingmen of varying talents and abilities.  not one of those players has a clearly defined position (and none of them is very good at creating open looks for other players).

it's Ivan Johnson, btw.  such a cool name.

Ivan was playing like a man possessed. Too bad Joe Johnson didn't feel like playing like that.

Joe Johnson has been so bad... and he's going to be making max money at 35!

We may see a max contract get amnestied... so crazy.

i'm pretty sure that anticipation of an amnesty provision is part of the reason Joe Johnson got such a sweet deal a couple summers ago.

the owners were basically handing out those terrible contracts in bad faith.  they knew they'd have the ability to nix them within a year or so.

I don't think so in Joe Johnson's case. I think multiple teams would have put up similar offers had Atlanta not pre-emptively locked him up with the max they could pay him.

New York, Chicago, and Clippers would have offered him a max 5 year deal certainly.

I do think some of the lesser role players got bigger deals because the lockout loomed. (with amnesty being one of the things the owners figured they'd get easily enough)

somebody would have paid him that money, sure.  but i think Atlanta made that decision without too much worry because they figured they'd have the amnesty in their back pocket after the lockout.

The Hawks definitely lost that one.
Joe Johnson has been playing terribly.. He was one free throw away from winning the game.

Yeah so much for that.  Wiz are a hapless team.

The rumors are true, Chris Johnson has put on quite a bit of bulk.  Didn't recognize him at first.

The Hawks are just clubbing the Bulls. Wonder if they can keep this lead.

Sixers absolutely dominating the Raptors.  Gonna go to 5-2 on the season.  Sixers, Pacers up there with Hawks and Magic for this regular season.  I think all four of those teams are likely to finish with better records than the Celtics, along with the Bulls and Heat.

Yes, that means Celtics and Knicks might be 7th / 8th seeds.

Ouch. But yea those young teams will all have solid records. Question is in crunch time(the playoffs), will they have the pose to win? Who knows.
