Haha, looks like I was a little too pessimistic but a lot of the same concerns still exist. For the Celtics to be able to win it all, they need the following to continue.

1) Rondo carried the team today by being aggressive and making free throws/jumpers. If both of those continue, he's a MVP candidate. But we all know his jumper's inconsistent and a guy of his frame is going to have a hard time continuing to be that aggressive and staying healthy.

2) KG and JO need to stay healthy. They don't have any more height on the team.

But positively, Bass for Baby is looking like a gigantic steal and they were missing Pierce and Pietrus. Go Cs! And go eggnog!

Sasha was the only one that was somewhat effective against Carmelo. Carmelo just ate Daniels up all night.

I still love how you guys can focus on Sasha, when there are quite a few players that really hurt us tonight.

Yeah enough with the Sasha hate. He didn't do anything special but he certainly wasn't the reason we lost today. He was actually decent against Melo outside of those pullup 3s off the screen, which is pretty hard to stop.

my thought on this game is that the Refs killed lost this game for the celtics...the celtics definitely played better in the 2nd half....but the techs on sasha/quis and parade to the free throw line by melo anytime he was touched killed any momentum we had

usually in a close game with 2minutes to go, refs stay out of it...but crawford gave this game to the knicks what that bs call that put melo at the line with to score the final 2 points

Are you people insane? Did you even WATCH the game?

We just barely lost a season opener game when we were down one of our starters. And you want to blow it up?

I don't want to breach board rules by insulting your intelligence, but this is really an astounding logical leap to make. The second half we looked good. The first half we were rusty. Big deal. If Pierce had been in that game we would have won handily. Heck, we would have won that game if we played the first half like we did the second half.

Seriously, talk about your knee-jerk illogical over-the-top reactions.

Rondo became timid in that 4th quarter with under 5 minutes left ... That's what killed us. Good game either way ... We beat Miami and all is forgotten ...

If Pierce was playing, that comeback would have happened sooner, and the Knicks "comeback" in the 4th quarter would have never happened. Good "win" knicks
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

He didn't have the openings, and with Ray sitting for a stretch, we had no one on the wing to go to.  Pietrus will be a much needed help off the bench.

Without Pierce, and losing Green...  yeah, we can now see why Doc had a concern.  Pavlovic should be sent packing... Al Thornton would look nice...

Doc doesn't trust Sasha and you could see it with his limited playing time.  Your not going to win many games when your starting SF plays 15 minutes and get you one rebound, one assist and no points.  The plus/minus for him was -4.

I do not think he did a good job at all.   I think Melo had 37 points and 17 of them was during the first half.   Daniels was guarding him a lot of the time I realize.   But zero points is not going to cut it.  He tries hard and keeps his body between his man the basket but we are playing 4 on 5 on offense when he is in there.

If Pierce had played this would not even been close.   I can't wait for Pietrus and Pierce.  At least they would have scored in 15 minutes.   Do you realize how much Melo got to rest on the defensive end with Sasha?   The only reason he is playing is that Pierce is hurt and Doc thought Quisy would add scoring pop to the second unit.

We 'd be better served to cut/waive him and sign House and sit down Bradley.  Both Bradley and Sasha are unreliable on the offensive end of the court.   Use House for offense and Bradley for defense.

from my observations today

Celtics are just rusty in the first half, came back from 17 down and took the lead...

LOVE the Bass/Wilcox Bass/KG duo

though Bradley was lost on offense, I love his pesky defense, he was on his guy playing tight defense.

You can definitely tell the Big 3 (well minus Pierce), were rusty but come 2nd half, they turned it on

The Bass/Wilcox duo was ok, i liked how they were fighting for offensive boards.

Rondo was a beast tonight, no doubt about that, his free throws were going in and some of his jumpers are going in, too early to tell if he was just hot or he improved but we'll see

JO looked ok out there, didnt play much in the 2nd half though, probably a strategy from Doc to keep his legs as fresh as he can.

I'm still meh about Dooling, but loved the way Marquis moved out there

Once Pierce and Pietrus plays, and get used to playing with each other, we can be really fun to watch

Your point is well taken......THIS is the time of a game that CP3 refuses to lose and takes over the game like no other point guard , even better than Steve Nash.  I truely belive with CP3 with 5 minutes to go we'd would have won this game .  Or even having PP would have turned the game out way.

KG was -4 too. Everyone in our team was negative except Rondo, Allen, JO.

You realize that Daniels was guarding him a lot of the time, yet want to blame Sasha for Melo's performance, when the fact is that Daniels was on him for most of the game. The great majority of those points were against Daniels, he was eating him up. Sasha was making him work plenty trying to score.

You talk about how much rest Melo got, remember that Melo got a lot of rest because of foul trouble. He only played 34 minutes. With that said, he wasn't called a foul in the 4th quarter because no one was making him work. He was guarding Daniels, so let's blame Sasha for this too?

We see what we want to see I guess.
