The question is whether or not he will end up in Maine.
Perhaps. It will be interesting to see the order of cuts. My guess is that Gilbert Brown will be the last cut, so they can assign him to Maine.
How exactly does that work again? They can send two players from the roster of 15 if they are in their first two years, correct? Can they also send their last cut?
Well, I am not sure it is the same under the new CBA, but last year the rule was that the team is allowed to assign their last cut to their own NBDL team. The player would be free to sign with any other NBA team, or overseas, but if they wanted to play in the NBDL, they would have to play for the affiliate of the team that cut them last.
As for roster players, those rules have changed slightly. I forget the details, but I know that they have made it easier for teams to assign players in their first 3 years to the NBDL. I do know the big change is that there is no longer a limit on the number of times a player can be sent down and called up. Which means you could see that a lot this year.
