Does Big Baby Davis not count? He was an integral part of one championship team and an integral part of another team that was a Perk game 6 injury away from winning another championship. Davis just signed a 4 years $26 million contract and was good enough to land us Brandon Bass, probably our sixth man this year.

Even though I've defended Ainge in this thread, he did monumentally miss on our 2008 1st rounder.

Giddens was projected as a late 2nd rounder; Danny probably could have picked him up for cash.  Some of the guys he passed on:

Nikola Pekovic (perhaps not fair, since he wanted more than "slot" money)
Mario Chalmers
DeAndre Jordan
Omer Asik
L.R. Mbah a Moute
Sonny Weems
Chris Douglas-Roberts

With so much talent on the board, with so many fans clamoring for one of Chalmers, Jordan, or CDR, it just seemed like a reach.  Danny might have outsmarted himself there.

One of the other very few times I've felt I was more "right" than Danny was in 2009.  I kept hollering for the Celtics to buy a 2nd rounder to draft DeJuan Blair or Chase Budinger.  I couldn't believe they were sliding, and the team had bought so many picks in the past (Powe, Walker, etc.) that I thought for sure Danny would grab a pick.

I can't really blame him for not doing so, but that's one of the very few times that my imaginary draft board was more successful than Danny's.

What's wrong with CDR?  He's certainly better than Giddens.

JR Giddens
Bill Walker
Avery Bradley
Etc

There has not been 1 young guy in the last 4-5 years who has stuck around and made any impact on this team.

Ainge is wasting 1st round picks of guys who are either projects or make absolutely no impact what so ever... but yet he's able to find some decent guys in the 2nd... (Erden, Harangody, Moore)

When it's all said and done, and the big 3 are retired, we are not gonna have any young guys to build on from these past years....

He has been horrid and I am sure you have crushed it on every player you wanted him to pick.

He is drafting late in the rounds this isnt the NFL where you can find legit players all through the first round.

He has a competitive team, got us two picks for next year and the space to add two max contracts, two seasons removed from our second finals.

Nit pick much?

Giddens was a miss.  No doubt about it.

Still every GM misses more then they hit drafting that late.  He's hit on more then enough mid to late 1st rounders and 2nd rounders to get the benefit of the doubt.  He's probably hit on more of those picks then most.
