Adrian Wojnarowski: Kenyon Martin has agreed to a contract buyout with Xinjiang of the China Basketball Association, sources tell Y! Sports.

Adrian Wojnarowski: As part of agreement, Martin must honor China Basketball Association rules, wait until end of team's season for return to NBA, sources said.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Xinjiang plays regular season through mid-Feb., and likely will make playoffs. Martin can't get letter of clearance for NBA until it's over.

He would be a nice pickup in late February..

Eh I think we are pretty set at the PF position . If he would take the vet min , sure why not, but I think he is going to get at least the mini mle from a contender. We need beef and height, Bass is just as good as Kenyon Martin at this point IMO.

He'd be good, so would Chandler, JR Smith or Aaron Brooks. If we can get any of the four chinese guys I'll be happy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would love a C but who is available?

Like Doc told Ainge, "Just get me the best players available and I will figure it out".  That's how I feel about K-Mart.  He would be a nice addition.

Kenyon Martin would be the best possible pickup the Celtics could make this offseason.

A part of this agreement with the Chinese league is that he cannot sign with any team until the Chinese season has ended, which is in March.  He'll no doubt be in demand then...

Then the C's do have a solid shot at signing him, I believe all the exceptions get reduced as the season goes along. That lessens the difference in money that the C's have to offer.

Good to have it confirmed that he won't be available till late in the season.  Makes our minimum offer much more competitive with the contenders who still have some money left.

If were able to get Kenyon, I'd feel much more comfortable dealing big for small with Bass, JO or Wilcox to improve our perimeter depth/offensive capability off the bench.

I'd also be a lot more confident defending Miami and New York's dangerous small-ball line-ups with KG and K-mart on the frontline.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I thought the Chinese basketball association would give a letter of clearance if the NBA player reached an acceptable financial settlement with the team he is leaving.

Something like a return of all salary earned + the entire salary again in compensation for leaving them short-handed / short-changed.

I thought they changed their tune and decided to not give out letters of clearance at all after some internal politicing went on.

Ahh, I never heard that. Makes (vindictive) sense.

The center in China who might be in the Celtics' price range after the Chinese season is over is Dan Gadzuric.  He's not great, but he is somewhat better than DJ Mbenga, even if his career free throw percentage is (barely) under 50%.

Not bad, but I would take the K-Mart playing possibly out of position over him.  If we have to play small ball but with more talent I'm okay with that.  Apparently that was a big part of the off-season plans according to Doc.
