I know a lot of people on here don't like Nick Young, but I think he would be a great fit alongside Rondo. There has been a lot of speculation on here that Danny will target OJ Mayo next year in free agency because Mayo has said in the past that he would like to play with Rondo . Mayo and Young have identical shooting %'s over their careers.

Ray's   career shooting% = 45%FG'S , 40%3P FG'S, 90%FT
Young's career shooting% = 44%FG'S , 38%3P FG'S, 82%FT
Mayo's  career shooting% = 44%FG'S , 38%3P FG'S, 82%FT

I think Mayo is probably the better ISO player, but I think that Young's game resembles Ray's a lot more than Mayo because he doesn't need the ball in his hands to score which works a lot better with Rondo. I really think Young is going to be one of the best shooters in the league in a few years.

I think I recall Danny saying he really like Nick Young the year he was drafted and worked out for the C's

I didn't look up TS% , but if anyone wants to do that feel free to post .

Mayo and Young are both UFA next year and will likely get similar contracts, so which one would you want the C's to go after ?

I would go with Young.

Somehow I think putting Mayo together with Rondo is a bad idea. In fact I think Mayo is sorta disgusting.

  • Rondo = Good
neither.  2012 is rebuilding time, and neither Mayo nor Young is a piece I want to commit long term resources to.

Austin Rivers will be better than both of those players... or at least as good.

Package the C's 2 picks along with a prospect and jump up for Rivers.

Unless you can land a bigger fish OBV.

I'm hearing that Austin may go at about 17.  We could get lucky enough to have him fall to us without having to trade up.

I hope Ainge does his thing just like this year's draft. That was nifty.

I think Rivers will easily be a top 10 pick by the time the draft comes around. There are a lot of teams in the lottery that will need a SG

CLE
Minny
NJ
Utah
MIL
PHO

All those teams will be looking for an explosive scorer like Rivers at the SG spot IMO

You would have to trade up probably to at least #12 to get him .

Thats why I think it's more realistic to sign mayo or Young for about 7 or 8 mil. Ray has already said he wants to come back after this year and I think Ray would gladly take the role as 6th man for the Celtics organization

With Young or Mayo and Ray at the SG spot you would be set for the next 3 years at least. That way you can try to hit on 2 picks in the draft at other positions of need . Big Man will be the biggest need for the C's in the next few years I think. There aren't really any big man FA next year besides Dwight .

Yeah I hope he cranks some maneuvers, cause I would jump for joy if we could move to the end of the lottery.

Austin Rivers should not go in the top 10...He's not that good. There are flat out better players than him that should be going then.

Nick Young!

Very effective scorer. Has greatly improved his catch and shoot game. Very efficient (due to low turnovers). Plays solid man-to-man defense but still struggles on team defense. I think he could grow a lot in that area once he gets put on a quality defensive team instead of the crap he has to play with in Washington. Working hard to become more of a team player.

Flip Saunders is trying to get him to rebound more this year and make a few more assists. We'll see if that works out or not.

Nick Young has low turnovers because he never passes the ball.
