Greg Stiesma < Semih Erden

The title really explains for itself. The only two things Stiesma is better at is Blocking and Being Heathly. Erden is made out of glass but is much,much more talented and experienced. We may have the chance to even get another 'Stiesma' but not close of a 'Erden!'

So you feel confident in already making that assessment?  Sorry, I don't.  I've seen some clips of him from youtube, and also from his D-League games.  I think he has the ability to provide deep bench depth.  The kind of guy that might practice hard and push guys, and also help with interior defense.  He's limited offensively, but I've seen enough of Erden to believe he's basically a stiff who will soon be out of the league altogether.

Given Jermaine O'Neal's health, if Stiemsma is much better at being healthy, that might make up for being somewhat worse in other areas.  How close are they in rebounding and setting picks?

I don't mind him if he adds some muscle on himself. We need all the big and healthy bodies we can take right now in this shortened compressed season. Even if he doesnt cut it against certain matchups but is a decent fill in on those nights where he can pick up the slack and isnt mismatched too much. Hell why not?

Semih is definitely better than Stiesma. He's very mobile for his size.

If Erden was so good why did he drive Doc crazy. All I heard was how bad he was at team defense. I liked that Semih bothered a lot of shots; but could never figure out why he could not block more. Perhaps he had attention issues. Stiemsma Stays with someone and doesn't just flail his arms. He is more under control does that mean he is less athletic? Besides with Wilcox and Bass he will only be used when we need a big camped under the basket.

More hustle and grit than Mikki; but too early to tell otherwise.

I think that Stiesma so far has shown he is a better or equal defender to Semih last year.   Semih was injured though and often played with one arm.  I think Semih in all honesty was a better offensive player.
