the team does tend to exaggerate a lot . . . like how Shaq was only going to miss a couple weeks last year, or like how in '09 KG just had a bit of knee soreness and he'd be back ok in a month . . . .

He's going to be all kinds of out-of-shape.

This is going to be a really difficult year to watch.  Especially with our four main stars still out there and we're unable to win.

You'd almost rather be able to blame it on a lack of talent

...yeah, no worries on Jeff Green, and Danny wasn't trying to trade Rondo either. :)

yeah.  people talk about how they are in no rush to go back to being a lottery team, but this is shaping up to be the sort of season i cannot stand.  one in which you still have reasonably high expectations, but the team is thin, flawed, and so susceptible to injuries that it's just one huge disappointment waiting to happen.  ultimately, more likely than not, the season will end in a whimper and we won't even have a decent draft pick or significant development of any young guys to show for it.

it would almost be nicer to just enjoy a group of young guys who are still figuring it out and show flashes now and then while losing their way to a high lottery pick we can all get excited about next june.

Lets hope it is just a heal bruise and not Plantar Fasciitis or Bone Spurs. I'd hate to think he'd be ending his career with the same troubles Larry did...

well they're not telling us what the injury is so the pattern for the Cs is when they don't disclose the injury it's on the more significant end.

hopefully in this case everybody is just forgetting to ask what the injury is...

I would put a bet that Pierce WILL play next sunday against the knicks...Doc does exaggerate at times.

kinda tiring reading the same "the end is near!" posts all day on this site...cant wait for the season to start so we can see this celtics team isnt as bad as Everyone here thinks they are.

I'm a wee bit concerned about this.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I gotta say I agree with PosImpos and the others who are concerned this could be yet another case of the C's hiding the truth about the seriousness of an injury.

The C's track record in this department isn't too good.

If you expect to be disappointed, then you can't really be disappointed.

But yeah, im pretty nervous about the season too, and really nervous about PP's heel.  But Im still hyped up for the season and will continue to root for the Celtics til the season is over.

also many times Doc doom prognosis about a player health were unfounded.

Whatever Celtics state, usually the opposite is correct. Best approach is wait and see one. For all we know Pierce might play tomorrow

Don't forget about TA and Perk, who came back from their knee injuries months ahead of schedule.

yeah, it's borderline for me.  as much as ive said about rebuilding asap, i do want to see the Big 3 for one last season.  they're a special group, and we won't get to see them together again, in all likelihood.

it's going to be a frustrating season, though.

post-surgery.  it's a little bit different.  in those cases we knew what the injury was, and the recovery time ended up being shorter.  the issue has always been with the celtics not being straight with the fans about what the injury actually is and how long the player is going to be out as a result.
