Pierce will miss the preseason contest tomorrow night, and with the season opener rapidly approaching on Sunday afternoon, Doc Rivers is beginning to show some concern about the possibility of Pierce missing regular season time.

“I am concerned, not long term—-but short term. We have those two games right off the bat. He’s only gone one practice, that’s basically it, so yeah, I’m concerned about it.”

Rivers also told reporters Pierce tried some drills on it yesterday during the team’s off day, but did not feel well on it today.
“He went real hard yesterday, and it just got real sore,” Rivers explained. “He felt good at first and we told him to go out and work, so he did some one-on-one stuff with some of the guys and his foot was extremely sore today.”
Fun stuff!  :-\
so do we start daniels or what because rondo and daniels out there together aint a good mix

Huh?  Why not?  And who is a better mix, Sasha Pavolovic and Rondo?  I like Quis alonside anyone, he is a good all around player.

Anyways.... ugh more bad news.  I was hoping for a strong opener against New York.  Hopefully we can still win the game and Pierce isn't hurt badly.
daniels is good but the floor spacing was bad against the raptors with both them out there james johnson was blocking our whole team i know u seen that

Eh, I do understtand where you're coming from, it's an issue that will face that lineup, but at some point you just have to put your best lineup on the floor (and Quis is much better than Sasha).  Also, defense to me is a bigger factor than offense.  Sashsa guarding Melo is an absolute joke while Quis plays solid D one on one and good team D.

It's not like NY is a defensive team.  I'm more worried about defending them than I am scoring on them.

I concur.  Daniels is just plain a significantly better overall player than Sasha.

As far as floor spacing goes, people are forgetting that JO is not Perkins.   Jermaine HAS a decent jump shot and so is a threat to pop when he sets a screen (unlike Perk).  He thus commands a defender when he comes out.  So between Ray, KG and Jermaine, you've got three guys who can pull their defenders out of the paint.  Not as good as having Pierce on the floor as well, but more than enough to create space for the offense.

Obviously, when Bass is in, he too has a very very nice jump shot.  It will be fun to see if some defense forgets that he is NOT BBD and they sag off him the way defenses sagged of BBD when he was taking those 17 foot jumpers.

Finally, while Wilcox is not an outside shooter, he is a threat to score if he gets the ball within 8 feet of the basket and so a defender can't sag off him to try to double on KG (like they always would when we had Perk).   This means he'll be able to do baseline screens to help MD & RA get to the post.

Also, when it comes to dealing with a collapsed defense, few people are more adept at weaving through traffic in the paint than Daniels.  The guy is just sick like a snake.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

did Danny come out and say we'll still be okay because we have Quis and Sasha?

Maybe he will come to his senses and sign Posey. I kinda wonder if he is still upset that Posey bolted when the Cs played hardball with him a few years ago.

Seriously, what's the downside to signing Pose?

Wasting money when we cut him later.

There are two downsides: one if he's truly cooked as a player he will just cost Wyc some money if/when we have to cut him and two he'll take up a roster spot that another player might have signed for and they could have helped us more.

vet min contract is peanuts. If he is cooked you cut him...no roster spot lost.

if we are gonna nickel and dime this year, maybe the last with the Big 3, then that is pretty sad.

Ugh, this seems like one of those infamous injuries to a key Celtics player that is "not a big deal" at first and yet it lingers and grows worse until management finally admits the player will miss significant time and we find out much later that it was a big deal from the beginning.

I really hope it's not that, but I'm straight up sick of it.  If he has a bone bruise, or a stress fracture or something, just freaking tell us.  NOW.  I'm tired of the team trying to string along fans by obfuscating the seriousness of injuries over weeks and months.

I think this is selling low on Rondo. Jameer Nelson has never struck me as the kind of player that can lead a championship contender to victory.

If the coaching staff has told DA that Posey could help them I'm confident they'll offer him a deal.

The fact that they haven't tells me they don't think he can.

Fortunately, Paul Pierce does own a wheelchair so at least he'll have a form of transportation...

Pretty much how I see it too.

The season is already heading in the wrong direction and it hasn't even started yet.

Doc tends to exaggerate a lot. I'll believe it when Pierce misses multiple games.

Lets hope it is just a heal bruise and not Plantar Fasciitis or Bone Spurs. I'd hate to think he'd be ending his career with the same troubles Larry did...
