Pierce is now missing the second pre-season game. Doc has been quoted as being "Concerned".

Not even out of camp and the injury bug has knocked out our 6th man and best scorer.

Yeah, things are great.

I think our own pick could be the 15th pick in the draft

Quote
Last year the 15th to 17th picks in the draft went to the 5th,6th,7th seed in the east.

I hope we get 7th and face chicago and win a tiebreaker with eastern/western teams and get the 15th pick in the draft.

Having two top 20 picks in this draft will most likely be great.

Would be nice to be 15th and 30th (meaning #18).

Being #30 in the draft means the team is #1 overall in the regular season.. Doesn't always equate to a championship..

i wouldn't trade up unless we're in the top 5-6, we can't afford to bust on 1 pick. If anything I'd trade down for the lakers 2 picks (not likely with the way mavs are playing) to get 3 picks

right now nbadraf.net has us at 18 and 19 and has us taking the kentucky boys Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones.

I think Lamb would be a nice pickup.

Please give Danny his due merit: He will screw this years draft again and again.

So I was thinking about this the other day:

We could use a scorer for the future, and some draft projections have Austin Rivers at around 18 in the upcoming draft... if he was there would Ainge take him?  I think talent wise it's a no brainer, but I'm just curious what would be thought of a father coaching his son in the NBA.  Has it happend besides the Karls a few years ago in Denver?  Karl was clearly an end of the bench guy so that wasn't a big deal but I'd be curious to see it with someone who has All-Star potential like Austin Rivers.

Guys I would be looking for: Austin Rivers (all around scorer of the future), Mason Plumlee (great athletic big man, should be at least a great rebounder and quality defender at the next level), Terence Jones (super long for a SF, athletic, scorer), Doron Lamb (also a great scorer, especially from midrange)

If Rivers is available, and DA thought that was the best player available, he wouldn't hesitate to pick him, regardless of Doc.

RyNye,

The bench has the back up 5,3 and 2 positions covered? Please tell me you are not serious.

As to the bet I will gladly bet you. I will get back at the end of the season with either a mea culpa or a quick note to you regarding your blind faith in team that will by then be in rebuild mode.

Other than Brandon Bass, who I admit was a brilliant move, where are we better on our bench compared to last year? (Ok, perhaps Dooling abcking up the 1)

Better at the 5? Nope. Better at the 3? Negative. Better at the 2? Incorrect.

I just do not feel good about things this year. Things are not breaking our way. I think you would agree that luck is a part of winning a title and so far we have not had any.

I think we're clearly better at the 4

 somewhat better at the 1,

slightly better at the 2- (healthy marquis and Moore versus injured Marquis and injured West),

About even at the 3 -(Pietrus and healthy Marquis for injured marquis and underperforming Green).

At the 5- we wont equal what we had last year with Shaq, but if you consider the lineup we had after losing Shaq...I think a healthy JO and Stiemsma might be equal to that.

If we hadn't lost Green, we would have been way ahead of last year =/

I think Bradley Beal would be a better fit than Austin Rivers. Beal is a Ray Allen clone and would fit perfect in our system.

He has more size (I heard he grew to 6'5) and is a better defender than Rivers.

I agree that Beal is the much superior player to Rivers, but the problem with us drafting Beal is he's going to be long gone by the time we pick.  He's a top 7-10 pick probably.
do it

True but I think that there will be a team who didn't get the player they were hoping would fall to them and be willing to trade down for our 2 picks in what a lot of ppl consider a deep draft. Of course that depends on how our good our picks are but I think it is a possible deal we can swing.
